(Minghui.org) The Dehui City Police Department in Jilin Province and some of its subordinate police stations arrested five locals between January 5 and 9, 2024 for practicing Falun Gong, a mind-body practice that has been persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party since July 1999.
Ms. Zheng Sizhi was arrested at home on January 5, by officers from the Dehui City Domestic Security Office, a division of the Dehui City Police Department.
Ms. Zhang Fuling and Ms. Dong Deqin were arrested by officers from the Wutai Township Police Station on January 6.
Mr. Shao Fangdong was arrested on January 8, by three officers from the Jianshe Street Police Station.
Mr. Sun Yue was arrested on January 9, by officers from the Dehui City Domestic Security Office and the Chaoyang Township Police Station. His wife, Ms. Wang Xiujie, and his 90-year-old father, Mr. Sun Jinggui, were also seized and taken to the Chaoyang Township Police Station, even though neither of them practiced Falun Gong. The elder Mr. Sun and Ms. Wang were soon released, but the younger Mr. Sun remained detained.
The locations where the five practitioners are detained is unknown at the time of this report.
