(Minghui.org) A local practitioner was arrested and put on administrative detention for distributing informational materials about Falun Dafa. Her husband went to the police station seeking her release. After they turned him away, he filed multiple complaints to higher-up officials. Not long after, the police chief visited him with the officer in charge of the practitioner’s case. They apologized to him and said, “We will never arrest your wife again.”
I was greatly inspired by this story and realized that we must take the initiative to clarify the facts. Every incident can provide us with an opportunity to start a conversation, whether it’s good or bad on the surface. I believe the severity of the persecution in any given region is related to how well we clarify the truth in that area. Since the persecution of Falun Dafa doesn’t have any legal basis, justice is on our side when we use proper legal channels to oppose the persecution. But if we don’t do our part, the situation won’t change on its own. We may not be able to achieve positive results in one shot. But we shouldn’t be afraid to try, since every effort is another step forward in the process of truth-clarification. Perseverance is the key.
There are three main tactics judiciary personnel usually use in attempt to stop us. They first threaten to arrest anyone who tries to rescue detained practitioners. We have to be clear that Master Li (the founder of Falun Dafa) is watching over us all the time and we shouldn’t acknowledge such arbitrary arrests or threats.
The second tactic is a “soft” approach. An officer may tell us that they had tried to help us, but they couldn’t do much because it was an order from their superiors. Because practitioners are kindhearted, some may become sympathetic to these officers and stop trying to rescue the detained practitioners. But in my opinion, those officials have taken advantage of our kindness. If we are truly kind and responsible to them, we will help them understand the facts and take a firm stand against the persecution. We absolutely shouldn’t stop our efforts because of our human notions.
In the third scenario, the officials might just avoid us, leaving us no opportunities to clarify the facts to them. Some practitioners became frustrated and stopped trying. But we are Dafa cultivators, and everything we do will have an effect. If we can’t talk to them in person, we can still write letters to them or try other methods.
Master taught us, “Where there’s a will there’s a way.” (“Teaching the Fa at the Western U.S. International Fa Conference,” Collected Teachings Given Around the World Volume VII) I was enlightened that we must have the determination to save sentient beings. If we are told we “can’t meet” with the officials in charge of the practitioners’ cases, we should just keep trying. In my own experience, as soon as I made up my mind to continue my rescue efforts, the interference disappeared on its own. Sentient beings are waiting for us to open the door for them after all.
Sometimes the officials might beat around the bush or talk about irrelevant things when we try to clarify the facts to them. We must lead the conversation and know what we need to tell them, instead of allowing them to redirect what we talk about.
Some practitioners are not very articulate and the judiciary officials might take advantage of that. If our hearts are moved and we stop talking, we will have fallen for the officials’ tricks. Whatever the situation may seem to be, we should always try to finish what we intend to say, because the officials need to hear it.
New Understanding about Release on Bail
I also want to share a new understanding about practitioners’ “release on bail.” I used to think that it was a form of persecution, since the release didn’t clear the practitioners’ record. Plus, they had to pay the bail bond. But I now think there are certain benefits for detained practitioners to be released on bail.
First of all, they will no longer have to suffer torture or brainwashing in custody. They can study the Dafa teachings and do the exercises at home, which is very helpful in keeping up one’s righteous thoughts.
Secondly, from the perspective of legal procedures, it’s easier for the procuratorate to dismiss such cases or the court to acquit practitioners who are not actually detained. Otherwise, the longer they are held in custody, the harder for them to be cleared.
Some practitioners were summoned to the police station on a regular basis after they were released on bail. To avoid facing police, they lived away from home and went into hiding. When the police couldn’t find them, they put these practitioners on the wanted list. My understanding is that we shouldn’t try to run away from the police. When practitioners are summoned to the police station, it’s a great opportunity to clarify the facts to the police. If we run away, we are shirking our responsibility to save those police officers. Plus, they may think that we aren’t honest, so it might be harder to clarify the facts to them in the future.
Stay Truthful, Righteous, and Kind
Some practitioners lied about certain things or used cunning ways trying to avoid the persecution. But I don’t think that’s a good idea. If we claim that we follow the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance and yet we lie to the police, what will they think of us? Aren’t we pushing them away? When we are being questioned, we can remain silent or address the issue from a positive perspective, but we have to be truthful about whatever we say.

I’ve realized that when our actions are righteous and kind, we are truly showing the police and judiciary officials the facts of Dafa while earning their trust and respect. If they fundamentally understand the evilness of the Chinese Communist Party and the beauty of Falun Dafa, they may take their own initiative to help us and stop participating in the persecution.
