(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 12 cities or counties in 5 provinces, where at least 23 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Xinji City, Hebei Province] Ms. Wang Guili Sentenced to Prison
Ms. Wang Guili, in her 70s, was tried by the Jinzhou City Court on June 21, 2023. The judge sentenced her to a year in prison. But, on August 9, the sentence was said to be three and a half years in prison.
2. [Rongcheng City, Shandong Province] Nine Practitioners Face Trial
The Rongcheng City Court announced that Ms. Tian Lisha and eight other practitioners’ trials would be held on August 24, 2023. The practitioners’ detention was extended.
More than two hundred officers from the Weihai City Police Department raided Hongyun Carpet Factory in the Wendeng District on July 21, 2022. More than ten practitioners who worked there were arrested. Nine of them, Ms. Tian Lisha, Ms. Li Shuhong, Ms. Qu Aiping, Ms. Zhang Yingming, Ms. Liu Mingming, Mr. Xu Changqing, Mr. Cong Xu, Ms. Lian Qingling, and Ms. Jiang Changmin, were indicted by the Rongcheng City Procuratorate on December 28, 2022. They were officially arrested, given criminal detentions, and were incarcerated. In addition, they were not allowed to have family visits or contact anyone.
3. [Nanchong City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Gao Zhijun Faces Trial
The trial against Ms. Gao Zhijun is scheduled for August 23, 2023 in the Shunqing District Court.
She was arrested at home by Xicheng Police Station officers on the afternoon of September 21, 2022, and has since been held in the Nanchong City Detention Center.
4. [Tianjin] Practitioner Yang Detained
Yang (first name and gender unknown) was arrested in the Hebei District in April 2023 by officers from the Quanyechang Police Station. Seven or eight officers from the Domestic Security Division and the police station ransacked Yang’s home, seized Falun Gong books, computers, cell phones, radio, MP3, printers, and other personal belongings. Yang was detained for 10 days. Three and a half months later Yang was able to have his or her confiscated items returned except for the Falun Gong books.
5. [Liaocheng City, Shandong Province] Mr. Liu Shangrong Arrested
Mr. Liu Shangrong from the Wujiasuo Village, was arrested at home on August 17, 2023 by the village director and five or six officers from the Guangping Development Zone Police Station. Without showing any documents, the officers ransacked the place, and tore down paintings from the wall. Mr. Liu was taken to the police station for questioning. The officers forced him to sign and fingerprint the police report, and claimed that according to their supervisors they could detain him for five days at any time.
6. [Suifenhe City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Li Shuzhi Detained
Ms. Li Shuzhi was arrested by officers from the Suibei Police Station on August 14, 2023 and was detained for 15 days in the Suifenhe Detention Center for distributing Falun Gong flyers on the street three years ago.
7. [Liaoyang City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Wu Guixiang Arrested
Ms. Wu Guixiang from Dongjingling, Wensheng District, was arrested on the morning of August 11, 2023. Her home was ransacked. Officers demanded her cash and bank cards.
8. [Heishan County, Liaoning Province] Ms. Qi Sumei Arrested
Ms. Qi Sumei was arrested just outside of her community by officer Wang Zhen and others after 7:00 p.m. on August 16, 2023.
She was arrested on March 1, 2023 after someone reported her for talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong in an open market. She was taken to the Jinzhou City Detention Center, but was released on bail because of her high blood pressure. The Heishan County Domestic Security Division submitted her case to the Linghai City Procuratorate. The court held a hearing at the Heishan Town Police Station on April 19. More than twenty court staff were there.
The verdict was delivered to her home on the morning of April 26 by Wang Zhen from the Domestic Security Division and Li Pengru from the court. She was sentenced to two years and six months in prison and was fined 5,000 yuan.
She was recuperating at home after a surgery in May in Shenyang City to remove a lump in her abdomen.
9. [Lingyuan City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Han Ximin and Mr. Du Qingxiu Face Trial
Ms. Han Ximin and her husband, Mr. Du Qingxiu, live in Lingyuan City. They were arrested by officers from the Beita Police Department in Chaoyang City on May 12, 2023. The Shuangta District Court first scheduled their trial for August 15. But it was not held because the couple did not cooperate. The trial was rescheduled for August 28, 2023.
10. [Weifang City, Shandong Province] Ms. Zheng Mei’e and Ms. Xiao Xia Detained
Ms. Zheng Mei’e was arrested in her son’s home by Hanting District officers on the morning of August 3, 2023. She has now been released from detention center.
Ms. Xiao Xia of Hanting District was arrested and taken to the Weifang Detention Center on August 16, 2023.
11. [Weifang City, Shandong Province] Mr. Zhao Changsheng Faces Trial
Mr. Zhao Changsheng was called by the Weifang City Intermediate Court on the afternoon of August 18, 2023, and told that his trial was scheduled for August 22 at 9:00 a.m. and he must report to the court before 9:00 a.m.
12. [Fuping County, Hebei Province] Ms. Chen Sufen Arrested
Ms. Chen Sufen handed a Falun Gong pamphlet to a police station officer in May 2023. The officer reported her to the county’s Domestic Security Division. They tracked and monitored her for over a month, and threatened to send her directly to prison and withhold her pension. Her son later paid the 3,000 yuan fine.
13. [Chongqing] Ms. Li HuiQiong Detained
Ms. Li HuiQiong was arrested at home on August 12, 2023 by Zhang and Liu, officers from the Baolong Town Police Station. She was taken to the police station and was held there until after 4:00 p.m. She was taken home in a police car.
The police station director, Liu Jie, came to her home on August 15 and arrested her again. She was detained for 15 days in the Tongnan District Detention Center and was released on August 30, 2023.
