New York: Introducing Falun Dafa During a Popular Community Event in Flushing
(Minghui.org) Falun Dafa practitioners participated in National Night Out Day held by the New York City Police Department’s 109th Precinct in Flushing on August 1, 2023. National Night Out is observed annually on the first Tuesday in August. The event is held by police in communities across the United States and aims to enhance the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement.
Thousands turned out for the event at Bowne Playground. Residents rubbed shoulders and chatted with each another adding to the cheerful atmosphere. Various activities brought the police and residents closer together, celebrating a safe community.
Practitioners had a table at the event. Some demonstrated the Falun Dafa exercises while others handed out fliers with information about the practice and the ongoing persecution in China. Practitioners also gave out balloons and lotus flowers that had “Falun Dafa is good, Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good,” written on them.

Mr. Ron Kim, Member of the New York State Assembly representing the 40th district, came to the practitioners’ table and greeted them. The practitioners gave him a lotus flower and he took a photograph with them.

People admired the handmade lotus flowers. Practitioners asked them to remember “Falun Dafa is good, Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good.”
Many people carried Falun Dafa balloons and accepted information about Falun Dafa.
Flushing has a large Asian population and most Chinese people who attended the event gladly accepted Falun Dafa fliers, lotus flowers and balloons. Many gave practitioners a thumbs’ up and said “Falun Dafa is good!” The Falun Dafa balloons and lotus flowers were seen everywhere during the event.
