Additional Persecution News from China – July 21, 2023 (13 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 12 cities or counties in 6 provinces, where at least 20 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] The Case Against Ms. Li Yujie Submitted to the Procuratorate

Ms. Li Yujie from Heping District was arrested by officers from the Hunhewan Police Station on March 15, 2023, and has been held in No.1 Detention Center. Her case was submitted to the Liaozhong District Procuratorate.

2. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Mr. Liang Yi Arrested and Detained

Mr. Liang Yi was arrested by officers from the Wuchang District Police Department on June 20, 2023. He was detained and released on July 19, 2023.

3. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Xu Yunlan Tried in Court

Ms. Xu Yunlan from Shahekou District, in her 60s, was taken from home and was tried in the Dalian Intermediate Court on July 20, 2023. The verdict will be announced in one month.

4. [Chengde City, Hebei Province] Five Practitioners Arrested

Multiple practitioners including Ms. Zhao Baoli, Ms. Zhao Xiaohong, Ms. Du Fengjuan, Ms. Yu, and Ms. Li Guifang, were arrested by officers in the Shuangqiao District on the afternoon of July 18, 2023. Their homes were ransacked and many personal belongings were confiscated. The practitioners are incarcerated in the Chengde City Detention Center.

5. [Kaiyuan City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Song Guoxia and Mr. Zhang Yiming Arrested

Ms. Song Guoxia from Xinli Village of Xiafeidi Township was arrested at her home by officers from the Huangqizhai Township Police Station and the Kaiyuan City Police Department on the morning of July 15, 2023. She was interrogated in the police department by Wang Yi and Cheng Zhigang and was taken to the Tieling City Women’s Detention House that evening. Ms. Song suddenly fell into a coma in the detention house but later gradually regained consciousness. She was denied admission and was released after her family was forced to pay 1000 yuan for the medical examination.

Mr. Zhang Yiming is a taxi driver and the son of Ms. Liu Li, who was arrested. Mr. Zhang was arrested on the evening of July 15, 2023 and detained.

6. [Jilin City, Jilin Province] Ms. Chen Xiulan Arrested and Detained

Ms. Chen Xiulan, in her 60s, was arrested at home on May 9, 2023. Her home was ransacked. Her Falun Gong books and photo of Falun Gong's founder were confiscated. Ms. Chen was held for two weeks in the Sulan City Detention House.

7. [Songyuan City, Jilin Province] Ms. Qu Jinlan Arrested

Ms. Qu Jinlan from Baiyilaga Township was arrested at home by officers from the township police station and the Qianguo County Police Department on July 20, 2023.

8. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Meng Qingxia and Ms. Liu Chunjie Face Trial

The case against Ms. Meng Qingxia and Ms. Liu Chunjie from Faku County was submitted to the Liaozhong District Court on July 4, 2023. The two practitioners will be tried at the end of July 2023.

9. [Langfang City, Hebei Province] Ms. Fan Meiling Faces Trial

Ms. Fan Meiling was arrested at home by officers from the Nanmenwai Police Station in Anci District on March 2, 2023, and was detained in the Langfang City Detention Center. Her case was submitted to the Bazhou City Procuratorate on April 17, 203 and was later taken to the Bazhou City Court on May 17, 2023. She will be tried in court on July 27, 2023.

10. [Shaodong City, Hunan Province] Mr. Zeng Zhiyuan Detained

Mr. Zeng Zhiyuan has been detained in the Wangling Prison in You County. He was taken to the Liling Hospital in Zhuzhou City for surgery to treat a small intestinal hernia in mid-May 2023 and was taken back to the prison on June 8, 2023.

11. [Shanghai] Mr. Liu Shunming Placed under Residential Surveillance

Mr. Liu Shunming from Maqiao Town in Minhang District was harassed on July 18, 2023 and has been placed under residential surveillance.

12. [Zhengding County, Hebei Province] Ms. Li Guoying Arrested

Ms. Li Guoying was reported to the police when she distributed information about Falun Gong in Yong’an Village and was arrested on July 18, 2023.

13. [Suining City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Wang Suhua Harassed

Ms. Wang Suhua, 70, was reported to the police for distributing information about Falun Gong and was harassed at home by officers in the Anju District on the morning of June 3, 2023. The police ransacked her home and confiscated three Falun Gong books and a photo of Falun Gong's founder.
