(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 10 cities or counties in 5 provinces, where at least 26 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Jinan City, Shandong Province] Court Hearing on Mr. Qi Yingjun’s Case Postponed
The Laiwu District Court originally scheduled to try Mr. Qi Yingjun on July 31, 2023, but postponed the court hearing. Court staff members said that Mr. Qi did not accept the lawyer appointed by the court and wanted to either defend himself or have the Jinan City Justice Department assign a different lawyer. The court did not notify Mr. Qi of the postponement, nor did it provide the new trial date.
2. [Liaoyang City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Sui Baiqin Severely Abused in Prison
Ms. Sui Baiqin from Dengta City was arrested by police in Dengta City at 10 a.m. on September 18, 2021. After being held in Liaoyang City Detention Center for nearly two years, in early April 2023, she was taken to the No. 3 Ward of Liaoning Women’s No. 2 Prison. It was recently reported that she was severely abused there.
3. [Dengta City, Liaoning Province] Wang Hao Held in Detention Center
Several police officers broke into Wang Hao’s home in Zhangtaizi Village, Zhangtaizi Town, on July 21, 2023. They arrested Wang and ransacked the place. Wang is being held in Wujia Detention Center. Wang’s family members are not allowed to visit. The current situation is unknown.
4. [Liaocheng City, Shandong Province] Several Practitioners Harassed
Wang Changsong, deputy head of Chiping District Domestic Security Division, persecuted and harassed practitioners by monitoring their phone conversations, tracking their locations, and staking them out.
Around 5 p.m. on July 19, 2023, three officers from the Zhenxing Police Station of Chiping District broke into Cao Xuezhan’s home and confiscated over 10 Falun Gong books and a copy of the Nine Commentaries. At 9 a.m. on July 20, officers from the Xinfa Police Station in the Chiping District called Cao again to harass him.
At 9 a.m. on July 21, three officers from the Zhenxing Police Station, Party secretary of Hepan Village, and another person broke into Mr. Li Xizhu’s home and ransacked the place. They confiscated Falun Gong books, a computer, and a printer.
Later, three of them broke into Ms. Wu Guilan’s home. About an hour later, officers from the Dulangkou Police Station in Chiping District called again to harass her.
In addition, officers from the Dulangkou Police Station and the Zhenxing Police Station harassed several practitioners by making phone calls and telling them to come to the police station in person. The practitioners who were harassed were: Xu Hua, Zhang Jiansheng, Wang Chengguo, Ma Lin, Wang Yusheng, and Liu Sheng.
5. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Zhao Yungu Arrested
When Mr. Zhao Yungu from Bin County went downstairs at around 7 a.m. on July 31, 2023, he was arrested by five officers from the Bin County Police Department who were staked out there. The officers ransacked his home. Mr. Zhao was to be taken to the detention center, but he was released on bail in the early morning hours of August 1 after he failed the physical examination.
6. [Nanchang County, Jiangxi Province] Ms. Liu Runbao Harassed
Four officers from the Youlan Police Station went to Ms. Liu Runbao’s home around 10 a.m. on July 25, 2023. They took Ms. Liu to the police station for questioning. They asked where she had been, and asked whether she still planned to leave town. They also asked whether she still practiced Falun Gong.
In the end they asked Ms. Liu to sign paperwork. She refused. Then they asked her to fingerprint it. After Ms. Liu refused, they wrote down “refusal to sign” on the paperwork. They did not allow Ms. Liu to go home until about 1 p.m. that day.
7. [Wuchang City, Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Jiang Zhenshuang and Wife Ms. Leng Yafang Arrested
Mr. Jiang Zhenshuang and his wife Ms. Leng Yafang were reported to the police for talking to people about Falun Gong by a plainclothes officer from the Chongren Police Station on July 31, 2023. The couple was arrested and their home was ransacked by officers from the Qizhi Police Station. Both Mr. Jiang and Ms. Leng were released on bail that day.
8. [Changtu County, Liaoning Province] Hu Fengjun Arrested
Hu Fengjun (gender unknown) from Weizi Village was arrested by officers from the Changfa Town Police Station on the afternoon of August 1, 2023. Further details are not yet available.
9. [Jilin City, Jilin Province] Ms. Lu Shuqin Taken to Detention Center
Ms. Lu Shuqin, about 70, was probably arrested on June 4, 2023. A fellow practitioner saw her on June 5, when the police took her to the No. 465 Hospital for a physical examination. She was subsequently taken to the Jilin City Detention Center.
10. [Tumen City, Jilin Province] Several Practitioners Arrested and Held in Brainwashing Center; One Officially Placed Under Arrest
Nearly all the practitioners who were arrested between July 20 and July 21, 2023, in Tumen City are now being held in a brainwashing center in the Wugong Village Ecological Park. Even those who signed paperwork were not allowed to go home. Ms. Ding Shuxian, Ms. Liu, and the Zhang couple were also held there.
Ms. Zhang Shuhua, around 70, was also arrested. Her husband Mr. Zhang Qingjun passed away in 2010 due to persecution by Yinmahe Forced Labor Camp in Jiutai District. It was reported that Mr. Jin Longzhe was officially placed under arrest.
