Additional Persecution News from China – June 20, 2023 (19 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 18 cities or counties in 9 provinces, where at least 35 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Zhangye City, Gansu Province] Three Practitioners Sentenced to Prison

Mr. Li Yamin was arrested at home in early April 2022 and was sentenced in January 2023. Mr. Li taught at the No. 1 Middle School in Linze County. He was previously arrested in August 2011 and was subjected to forced labor in September 2011.

Ms. Han Fenghua and a practitioner surnamed Hou were arrested at home on May 4, 2022. They were held in the Gaotai Detention Center until they were released on bail pending trial in mid-January 2023. They were taken from home again on April 17, 2023. Ms. Han Fenghua was sentenced to one year and seven months in prison; Hou was sentenced to one year and two months in prison.

2. [Xinji City, Hebei Province] Ms. Wang Guili Faces Trial

Ms. Wang Guili from Qinghewan Community, in her 70s, was arrested at home on the afternoon of February 15, 2023. The next day she was taken to the No. 2 Shijiazhuang Detention Center. Her case was submitted to the court and she will be tried in the Jinzhou Court on June 21, 2023.

3. [Jianyang City, Sichuan Province] Mr. Yang Yifan Arrested

Mr. Yang Yifan who works in the No. 7111 Aerospace Factory, was arrested at home by officers from the Jiancheng Sub-district Police Station at noon on May 19, 2023. The police ransacked his home and confiscated his computer, tablet computer, cell phones, cash and other personal belongings. The confiscated items were not recorded.

4. [Suining City, Sichuan Province] Three Practitioners Harassed

Ms. Yang Suhua, 77, was harassed at home by a staff member from the Tiangong Road Community Office and two officers from the Nanjing Road Police Station at noon on June 12, 2023. They photographed her.

The same three persons went to harass Ms. Liu Yuxian, who is 71 years old and lives in the Petroleum Residential Community. 

Ms. Liu Shengying, in her 60s, was harassed at home by officers from the Zhenjiangsi Police Station and staff member from the Chaoyang Community Office on June 13, 2023. She was pressured to sign the three statements.

5. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Ms. Liu Hongfeng Arrested

Ms. Liu Hongfeng from Longwang Township was harassed more than ten times on February 5, 2023. It was learned recently that she was arrested by officers from the Bajilei Police Station on March 15, 2023.

6. [Beijing] Ms. Pan Qin Harassed

Police in the Shijingshan District went to Ms. Pan Qin’s home on June 15, 2023. They ransacked her home and confiscated her printer. 

7. [Jilin City, Jilin Province] Ms. Huang Jingru Persecuted in Prison

Ms. Huang Jingru, 70, was taken to the No. 8 Ward of Jilin Province Women’s Prison in 2021. She was brutally tortured. She was severely beaten by more than 20 criminal inmates. She is now unable to eat and is emaciated. Her life is in danger.

8. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Yan Shanwei Arrested

Mr. Yan Shanwei from the Dalian City Development Zone was arrested by officers from the Wanli Police Station on June 10, 2023.

9. [Lianyungang City, Jiangsu Province] Ms. Wang Amin Persecuted in Prison

Ms. Wang Amin was transferred to the No. 2 Ward of Zhenjiang Province Women’s Prison on June 25, 2021. She was tied to a wheelchair and has become very thin. Her current whereabouts are unknown.

10. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Jia Liqing Sentenced to Prison

Ms. Jia Liqing was a nurse in the No. 2 Affiliated Hospital of Harbin Medical University. She was sentenced to two and a half years in prison by the Chaoyang District Court in Changchun City and was sent to Jilin Province Women’s Prison.

11. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Four Practitioners Persecuted

Ms. Shi Lianying from Jiutai District, 82, was arrested and detained in the No. 4 Detention Center of Changchun City. She was sentenced to prison and was taken to Jilin Women’s Prison.

Ms. Shi Jinshu, around 30, was arrested and sent to the No. 4 Detention Center of Changchun City in November 2022.

Ms. Yu Aiji was sentenced to eighteen months in prison. She was sent to Jilin Women’s Prison.

Yu Huayuan was sentenced to three and a half years in prison.

12. [Xianyang City, Shaanxi Province] Three Practitioners Sentenced to Prison

Three practitioners, Zhang Tao, Li Jing, and Li Xianghong, were tried in the Qindu District Court on April 25, 2023. The prosecutor recommended that Zhang Tao be sentenced to eight months in prison, and that Li Jing and Li Xianghong, be sentenced from three to seven years in prison. 

13. [Dujiangyan City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Li Jing Arrested

Ms. Li Jing was recently arrested.

14. [Shenze County, Hebei Province] Mr. Yuan Wenge Sentenced to Prison

Mr. Yuan Wenge, 77, was arrested on December 23, 2021 and was sent to the No. 2 Detention Center of Shijiazhuang City. He was tried in the Jinzhou City Court on March 28, 2023. It was learned on June 11, 2023 that he was sentenced to three years in prison and fined 5,000 yuan.

15. [Lingyuan City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Han Ximin and His Wife Du Qingxiu Arrested

Mr. Han Ximin and his wife Ms. Du Qingxiu were arrested by officers from the Beita District Police Department on May 12, 2023. Their home was ransacked.

16. [Longkou City, Shandong Province] Four Practitioners Arrested and Detained

More than 20 practitioners were arrested by officers in the Longkou District on May 9, 2023. Four practitioners, Ms. Ge Lijuan, Ms. Jiao Linhui, Ms. Chen Guifang, and Mr. Wang Zhoulin, were placed under official arrest on June 14, 2023. The others have been released.

17. [Baoji City, Shaanxi Province] Ms. Fei Guizhen and Ms. Li Xiaoxia Arrested

Ms. Fei Guizhen from Fufeng County, was arrested and detained in Zaozihe Town, Fengxiang County. 

Ms. Li Xiaoxia was recently arrested in Xi’an City.

18. [Liaocheng City, Shandong Province] Ms. Yang Xiuying Arrested

Ms. Yang Xiuying, 84, from Chiping District, was arrested near her home by six officers from the Gaotang County Police Department on June 16, 2023. She was denied admission by the Liucheng Detention Center and later by the Dong’a County Detention Center due to her high blood pressure. She was released in the evening.

19. [Jinan City, Shandong Province] Three Practitioners Arrested

Ms. Liu Nianju and two other elderly practitioners from Qijialing of Huangzhuang Town were arrested at their homes by officers from the Lixin Police Station. Their homes were ransacked. The practitioners were released in the evening but they received a notice of 11-14 days of detention. Ms. Li’s husband, who does not practice, was also arrested for driving the practitioners to distribute information about Falun Gong and was detained for 5 days.
