(Minghui.org) The Philippine Independence Day Committee (PIDC) held the 25th Filipino Heritage Month picnic at Earl Bales Park in Toronto on June 3, 2023.
Practitioners were invited by the organizer to participate in the event. The people who came to learn the Falun Dafa exercises said they benefited from them and appreciated the practitioners’ contribution to the community.
People talk to practitioners and learn about Falun Dafa.
Agnes Miranda, President of PDIC, said she wishes to learn about Falun Dafa.
Agnes Miranda, President of PDIC and Senior Executive Vice Chairman and Co-founder of the World Financial Group Canada told practitioners, “I knew Falun Dafa before, and I know that Falun Dafa is a traditional way of cultivation, which is good for physical and mental health. I meditate for an hour every day.”
She listened as a practitioner introduced the exercises to her. She took a copy of Minghui International magazine and said, “I just finished listening to the practitioners’ introduction to the exercises. I want to read this magazine and learn more about Falun Dafa because I like to meditate, and there is meditation in the exercises. I will go to the Falun Dafa website to learn about it.”
She also said, “The practitioners mentioned to me that Falun Dafa is practiced according to the guidance of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. I believe that Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is noble. To be a human being is to be honest and to give.”
Visitors Learn the Falun Dafa Exercises

Nazanin is from Iran. When she visited Niagara Falls, she received a leaflet about Falun Dafa. This time she came across a Falun Dafa booth, and she decided to learn the exercises. Coincidentally, the one who taught her the exercises at the booth this time was a Falun Dafa practitioner from Iran, and they talked to each other in their native tongue, Farsi.
Nazanin learned the exercises and said, “I heard of Falun Dafa long ago, but I never had the opportunity to learn the exercises. Today, I finally learned the exercises!”
“When I did the exercises, I felt peaceful and relaxed. I am very grateful, thank you!” Nazanin said.
Practitioners told her about the Falun Dafa website and gave her the Persian language version of Zhuan Falun, the main text of Falun Dafa.
“Falun Gong is practiced under the guidance of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. I think Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is very good because people nowadays are under a lot of pressure in all aspects and their minds are tense. They need to practice exercises to relieve their emotions,” she said. “We can’t control the external environment, and we can’t prevent unsatisfactory things from happening. What we can do is to improve self-control. Practicing Falun Dafa is a good way to improve ourselves. After returning home, I will continue to practice Falun Dafa. I will introduce it to my family.”
Aimee, a Filipino businesswoman, said that the guidance of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance will benefit people endlessly in life.
Aimee, a businesswoman from the Philippines, had a booth at the festival. She went to the Falun Dafa tent, and after listening to practitioners’ introductions, she said, “In the seminars I attended before, there were Falun Dafa themes. Therefore, I knew that in China, practitioners are persecuted. However, I think Falun Dafa is beneficial and kind. Nowadays, how to maintain mental health is a hot topic of concern. Falun Dafa teaches the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, meditation, and exercises. The guidance of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance will benefit people endlessly in life.”
Edward learns the Falun Dafa exercises.
Edward was born in the Philippines. Because his parents are from Fujian Province, China he can speak Chinese. He studied qigong before and said, “A friend once introduced Falun Dafa to me. I also saw the introduction on TV, and followed the TV program to perform the exercises.”
When he saw the Falun Dafa tent, Edward came to learn the exercises with practitioners. He followed the exercises earnestly and asked questions from time to time when he was in doubt. He practiced at the booth for nearly an hour. The practitioners introduced the essentials of the movements to him and demonstrated each movement.
After he did the exercises, he told practitioners, “When I was learning the exercises, I tried my best to stay focused and practice seriously. Then, I immediately felt that my fatigue disappeared and I felt relaxed. I know that Falun Dafa is a qigong. Practicing qigong brings energy and also enriches the spiritual world. I like the meditation in the exercises the most because it can let one temporarily escape the hustle and bustle of the world.”

Falun Dafa (also known as Falun Gong) was first introduced to the public by Mr. Li Hongzhi in Changchun, China, in 1992. The spiritual discipline is now practiced in over 100 countries and regions worldwide.
