Additional Persecution News from China – June 18, 2023 (27 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 22 cities or counties in 12 provinces, where at least 47 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Jiujiang City, Jiangxi Province] Ms. Zhou Meili Imprisoned

Ms. Zhou Meili was transferred from the Jiujiang City Detention Center to the Nanchang City Women’s Prison on June 6, 2023.

2. [Beijing] Ms. Wu Guoqin Sentenced to Two Years in Prison

Ms. Wu Guoqin was arrested along with more than 20 other Falun Dafa practitioners by police in Huairou District on August 10, 2022. It was recently learned that Ms. Wu was sentenced to two years in prison and was taken to the Daxing Women’s Prison.

3. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] The Case Against Ms. Nie Yan Submitted to the Procuratorate

The case against Ms. Nie Yan was submitted to the Chaoyang District Procuratorate.

4. [Lanzhou City, Gansu Province] Ms. Liu Guifang Arrested and Detained

Ms. Liu Guifang was reported to the police for talking to people about Falun Gong and was arrested by four officers from the Xiaoxihu Police Station. Her home was ransacked. She has been detained in the Lanzhou Detention Center for 17 days. 

5. [Jilin City, Jilin Province] Ms. Zhang Shufang Arrested

Several people from the Xiyang Town Police Station in Yongji County carrying a box of books entered Ms. Zhang Shufang’s home on June 13, 2023. Ms. Zhang, 69, was ordered to point to the box while being videotaped. Two days later on June 15, 2023, several police officers returned and took Ms. Zhang to the Jilin City Police Department. They ransacked her home and confiscated many of her personal belongings.

6. [Longkou City, Shandong Province] Ms. Yu Xiaomei Arrested and Detained

Ms. Yu Xiaomei, and more than 20 practitioners, was arrested on May 9, 2023. She was held in the Yantai City Detention Center before she was released on bail pending trial on June 14, 2023. 

7. [Houma City, Shanxi Province] The Case Against Mr. Yuan Jinming Submitted to the Court

The case against Mr. Yuan Jinming was submitted to the Quwo County Court. He was placed under official arrest by the court.

8. [Jiamusi City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Zhang Yuhua and Ms. Qin Xia Arrested

Ms. Zhang Yuhua and Ms. Qin Xia were reported to the police for distributing booklets which had information about Falun Gong in a residential community, and were arrested by officers from the Changqing Police Station on the afternoon of February 16, 2023. They were taken to the police station for interrogation. Both practitioners were released later that day because of their health.

9. [Jilin City, Jilin Province] Ms. Wang Yanzhen Arrested

Ms. Wang Yanzhen was arrested on June 4, 2023. The police handcuffed her and took her to her home that evening. They broke the lock and ransacked her apartment, confiscating several bags of Falun Gong-related items.

10. [Yueyang City, Hunan Province] Four Practitioners Harassed

Ms. Liu Guolan was harassed at home by four officers from the Qianlianghu Police Station in Junshan District at noon on June 12, 2023. They searched her home and confiscated multiple Falun Gong books and desk calendars. When they went to harass Ms. Zhou Huilan she was not at home but her husband was. They confiscated several Falun Gong books and some Minghui Weekly magazines. They also harassed Ms. Wang Ling and Ms. Dai Zuolan that afternoon.

11. [Qingyuan County, Liaoning Province] Three Practitioners Arrested and Detained

Ms. Zhao Guiping and Ms. Yang Xiaozhi, both from Hongtoushan, and Ms. Liu Lianhua from Beisanjia, were arrested by officers from the Lilu Police Station in Meihekou City on June 15, 2023 for talking to people about Falun Gong in Meikekou City. They were placed under 10-day detention and held in the Meihekou City Detention House.

12. [Weihai City, Shandong Province] Mr. Bi Xintai and His Wife Ms. Lu Yuzhen Arrested and Detained

Mr. Bi Xintai and his wife Ms. Lu Yuzhen from Shidao Town were arrested by officers in Weihai City for distributing information about Falun Gong on the morning of June 12, 2023. They were taken to the Weihai City Detention Center.

13. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Four Practitioners Persecuted

Four practitioners from Shuangcheng District including Chen Wanqiu, Wang Xiuxia, Wang Yali, and Zhen Guangtian, were arrested by officers including Wang Yubiao, head of the Shuangcheng District Domestic Security Division, in November 2021 for talking to people about Falun Gong. 

Chen Wanqiu was later sentenced to three years in prison and was incarcerated in the Heilongjiang Province Women’s Prison. Wang Xiuxia was sentenced to one year in prison and was released in November 2022. Wang Yali was sentenced to one year and six months in prison and was released in May 2023. Zhen Guangtian was released on bail due to her health. She was arrested again in March 2023 and was taken to the Shuangcheng Detention Center.

14. [Suining City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Meng Daole Tried in Court

Ms. Meng Daole, 78, was arrested by officers from the Kaixuan Road Police Station and was tried on June 13, 2023 by the Chuanshan District Court. 

Ms. Meng was sentenced to six months by the Chuanshan District Court in 2021.

15. [Baoqing County, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Liu Rangfang Arrested

Ms. Liu Rangfang, 69, from No. 852 Farm of Baoqing County, was arrested a month ago. She had been sentenced to five years in prison before and was released on December 3, 2022. She was so weak when she was released that she had to use crutches.

16. [Beijing] Ren Wenman Arrested

Ren Wenman (gender unknown) was arrested at Ren’s parents’ home on the afternoon of June 16, 2023. Ren’s mother who is nearly 90, collapsed in shock and was taken to an emergency room.

17. [Chongqing] Ms. Yang Li Harassed

Ms. Yang Li was arrested in November 2013 and was later sentenced to five years in prison. She has been harassed constantly since her release.

18. [Shanghai] Ms. Chen Yao Arrested and Detained

Ms. Chen Yao, in her 40s, was arrested by officers from the Changshou Road Police Station and the Putuo District Police Department around April 20, 2023. She was held in the Putuo District Detention Center until she was released around May 20, 2023. Ms. Chen was previously sent to detention centers twice and lost her job each time.

19. [Baoding City, Hebei Province] Ms. Liang Lanzhi and Ms. Li Lanlan Harassed

Ms. Liang Lanzhi’s home was ransacked by Li Tianjiang from the Nanguan Police Station and Li Na, director of the Nanguan Sub-district Office on June 13, 2023. 

Ms. Li Lanlan was arrested in the fall of 2022 for distributing information about Falun Gong and was released on bail pending trial. She was arrested again in the spring of 2023 for distributing informational materials. The detention center refused to admit her due to her high blood pressure. She was harassed constantly after she was released. Now Ms. Li stays away from home to avoid further persecution.

20. [Guiyang City, Guizhou Province] Yuan Longying Harassed

Yuan Longying (gender unknown), over 80, was reported to the police for distributing information about Falun Gong. Officers from the Yangguang Police Station in Huaxi District came to Yuan’s home on April 26, 2023. They ransacked the place and confiscated numerous Falun Gong books and a media player.

21. [Gong’an County, Hubei Province] Chen Gongyu Harassed

Chen Gongyu (gender unknown) was harassed at home by two officers from the Chanling Police Station in Douhudi Town on June 15, 2023. They photographed the home and asked about another practitioner, Xie Shengying (gender unknown).

22. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Fan Jinqing Arrested

Ms. Fan Jinqing was arrested on June 14, 2023.

23. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] The Case Against Ms. Gong Shuying Submitted the Procuratorate

The case against Ms. Gong Shuying was submitted to the Chaoyang District Procuratorate.

24. [Gaomi City, Shandong Province] Mr. Qin Songfa Harassed

Mr. Qing Songfa and his wife Ms. Xu Xiuzhen were harassed at home by an officer from the Xiazhuang Town Police Station at 10 a.m. on June 13, 2023. The couple were told that they have been under residential surveillance since they were arrested in March 2023 for talking to people about Falun Gong and were released on bail pending trial. The police harassment caused their daughter’s mental illness to relapse. 

25. [Nong’an County, Jilin Province] The Cases Against Ms. Yu Yongqin and Ms. Yu Fengzhen Submitted to the Procuratorate

Ms. Yu Yongqin and Ms. Yu Fengzhen from Binhe Township were taken from the Dehui City Detention House to the Dehui City Detention Center. Ms. Yu Yongqin was released on bail pending trial due to her health. Their cases were submitted to the procuratorate. 

26. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Mr. Wang Yongqing Arrested

Mr. Wang Yongqing has been arrested again.

27. [Linkou County, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Liu Benzhi Arrested and Detained

Ms. Liu Benzhi was followed by police when she was distributing information about Falun Gong in a market in Gucheng Sub-district and was arrested by officers from the Linye Police Station on May 11, 2023. Her home was ransacked. The police confiscated a photo of Falun Gong’s founder, more than 60 Falun Gong books, three computers, a printer and other personal belongings. Ms. Liu was held in a detention center before she was released on May 26, 2023.
