(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 11 cities or counties in 6 provinces, where at least 19 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Li Jing Sentenced

Li Jing, gender unknown, was arrested by Qingming Street Police Station officers on July 2, 2022, after someone reported Li when he or she talked to people about the persecution of Falun Gong. Li was sentenced to two years and ten months in prison but has appealed.

2. [Jingmen City, Hubei Province] Ms. Xu Fen Detained, Ao Harassed

Ms. Xu Fen was arrested at home on the afternoon of May 22, 2023, by a director from the Duodao Domestic Security Division, an officer from the Duodao Police Station and the Baimiao Police Station, as well as community clerks. They ransacked her home and seized a copy of Zhuan Falun, copies of Falun Gong’s founder’s recent writings, and other Falun Gong materials. She was taken to the Baimiao Police Station and given 13 days of detention. But the detention center did not admit her because she failed to pass the required physical exam. She was released after 1:00 a.m.

She was previously harassed many times for distributing Falun Gong flyers since the beginning of this year. Her husband was so frightened by her arrest that he was taken to the hospital for an IV injection.

Practitioner Ao, 80s, gender unknown, was harassed by the same group of officers on the morning of May 22, 2023. They failed to take away his or her Falun Gong books and a picture of the founder of Falun Gong due to Ao’s resolute resistance.

3. [Jilin City, Jilin Province] Xia Guihua and Others Arrested

Xia Guihua, Jiang Ruihua, Yu Yawen, and Cong (first name unknown) were arrested on June 4, 2023, by officers from a Changyi District police station.

4. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Lu Wei Sentenced

Ms. Lu Wei was sentenced to two years in prison and fined 5,000 yuan on May 18, 2023. She appealed. The date on her verdict was May 18. But Tian Ye the Daoli District Court judge did not notify her family until May 30, which was after the appeal period.

5. [Mudanjiang City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Zhu Yanhua Taken to Detention Center from Hospital

Ms. Zhu Yanhua was taken to the Mudanjiang Detention Center from the Second Affiliated Hospital of Mudanjiang Medical School around June 1, 2023. The hospital’s doctor said she recovered.

6. [Jilin City, Jilin Province] Ms. Wang Ying Released on Bail Pending Trial

Ms. Wang Ying was arrested at her home in the Fengman District around 5:00 p.m. on June 4, 2023, by officers from the Jilin City Domestic Security Division, the Changyi District Police Department, and the Yanan Road Police Station. The officers seized her Falun Gong books, a picture of the founder of Falun Gong, and other belongings. She was taken to a police station in the Chuanying District. She was held there until 7:00 p.m. on June 5, 2023. She was released on bail pending trial after her family paid 5,000 yuan in bail money.

7. [Chengdu City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Zhou Kaiqin Missing for a Month

Ms. Zhou Kaiqin, who lives in the Qingbaijiang District, has been missing since May 2023. A witness said that she was taken away by two officers.

8. [Fuyu City, Jilin Province] Zhao Yu and Others Harassed and Detained

Zhao Yu, who lives in Zhangbu Village, was arrested at home on April 14, 2023, by instructor Tang Qi and two officers from the Caijiagou Police Station. They ransacked Zhao’s home and seized a copy of Zhuan Falun and other Falun Gong books and printouts. They tried to incarcerate Zhao in a detention center. But the center did not take Zhao because of Zhao’s poor physical exam result. They left Zhao there overnight and planned to have him or her undergo a second exam the next day. Zhao did not cooperate and refused to get out of the car. They finally released Zhao.

Ms. Yu Xiulan’s home in Xishaoguo Village was ransacked by Tang Qi and officers from the Caijiagou Police Station on May 3, 2023. She was not at home. When they did not find what they wanted, they left.

Liu Guoying was arrested at home and detained for three days by Tang Qi and officers from the Caijiagou Police Station on May 23, 2023. They seized a picture of the founder of Falun Gong and a copy of Zhuan Falun.

Yang Zhenhua, who lives in Xishaoguo Village, was arrested at home and detained for seven days by Tang Qi and officers from the Caijiagou Police Station on May 31, 2023. They ransacked Yang’s home and seized copies of Minghui Weekly.

9. [Daqing City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Chu Zhanjuan Faces Trial

The trial against Ms. Chu Zhanjuan trial will be held on June 15, 2023, at 9:00 a.m. in the Gaoxin District Court. Ms. Chu is a retired teacher.

10. [Tonghua City, Jilin Province] Ms. Zhang Shujie Released on Bail

Ms. Zhang Shujie was arrested by officers from the Minzhu Police Station on the afternoon of March 30, 2023, after someone reported her for putting up posters with Falun Gong information. Officers from the Minzhu Police Station and the Jinchangzi Police Station ransacked her home and seized more than 40 copies of Falun Gong books. They took her to a detention center. She was denied admission. She was released after paying 2,000 yuan in bail money.

11. [Qingyuan City, Guangdong Province] Mr. Cheng Junhong Harassed

Mr. Cheng Junhong, a Qingyuan City resident, opened a stationery store in Jieyang City’s Rongcheng District. Qingyuan City 610 Office agents stalked him, photographed his store, and were stationed outside. They and Rongcheng District 610 Office agents conspired to enter the store recently. They ordered him to go to the police station with them. His partner stopped them and Mr. Cheng was not arrested.

12. [Jilin City, Jilin Province] Ms. Wang Yanzhen Arrested

Ms. Wang Yanzhen was arrested on June 4, 2023. Her older sister and the sister’s daughter were harassed the same day.

13. [Hebei Province] Ms. Zhang Ximei Tortured in Prison

Ms. Zhang Ximei, a resident of Baoding City, was arrested for talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong by officers from the Jiannan Police Station on January 17, 2019. She was detained, sentenced to three years and two-months in prison, and incarcerated in the Shijiazhuan Women’s Prison.

Guards tried to force her to renounce Falun Gong and made her watch videos defaming the founder of Falun Gong every day. They had a group of inmates stay with her 24 hours a day. Those inmates started by repeating their crooked understandings of Falun Gong. When this did not work, they punched her, kicked her, did not let her take a shower or brush her teeth. This also did not work. They took turns watching her, did not allow her to close her eyes for seven days, and continuously played videos that slandered Falun Gong. It did not work. They locked her in a small isolation cell where windows were covered by curtains. This also did not work.
