People Thanked Me for My Good Deed

(Minghui.org) On Chinese New Year’s Eve in 2013, I smelled gas coming from my neighbor’s place when I got home from working the night shift. I called the gas company and two technicians came. The door was locked, so they called the police.

The police opened the door and discovered the gas was still on and my neighbor, Wang Ping, was unconscious with a suicide note next to her. They called an ambulance. Soon there were over 20 people at the scene, and nearly 50 had gathered outside.

Wang Ping’s family was not there, so I grabbed 2,000 yuan from my home and followed the ambulance to the No. 2 City Hospital emergency room. Because her relatives were not at the hospital to sign the documents, the staff didn’t want to begin any lifesaving measures.

I begged the doctors to save her and told them I had 2,000 yuan and the family could pay the rest after they got there. The doctors finally agreed, and I waited until the family arrived to leave the hospital.

Wang Ping woke up five days later. Her parents, in their 80s, brought me four kinds of fruit and 2,000 yuan. With tears of gratitude, they said, “You saved our daughter. She wouldn’t be here today if not for you.”

“I appreciate your gifts,” I said, “but they are not necessary.” They insisted, so I kept the fruit. I explained, “I practice Falun Dafa. Master Li, the founder of the practice, teaches us to follow the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance and be good to everyone. Please remember ‘Falun Dafa is good, Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good.’”

Wang Ping and I have been like sisters ever since.

After the police took notes of the incident in the building they said, “ You are such a good person. Go home and enjoy the New Year!”

When I went to the community office to take care of things, the director said, “You did a great thing! We can all enjoy the New Year now! A gas leak like that could have caused an explosion. There was a building in our city that was destroyed by a gas explosion.”

The incident caused quite a stir in the city. People commented, “Wang Ping is lucky to have such a good neighbor. She was saved, and a possible explosion was averted, saving all the residents.”

Residents in the building who knew me said, “Thanks to you, we can all enjoy the New Year. You are a wonderful person.”
