Additional Persecution News from China – June 11, 2023 (15 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 12 cities or counties in 7 provinces, where at least 29 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Shanghai] Mr. He Binggang and Ms. Zhang Yibo Faces Trial

Mr. He Binggang and Ms. Zhang Yibo will be tried online by the Changning District Court at 2:30 p.m. on June 13, 2023.

2. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Yan Shanwei and Ms. Li Yumei Arrested

Mr. Yan Shanwei from the Wanlinan Community in the Dalian Development Zone was arrested at 2 p.m. on June 10, 2023 for producing informational materials about Falun Gong. His wife Ms. Li Yumei was later also arrested.

3. [Dehui City, Jilin Province] Four Practitioners Tried

Four practitioners, including Mr. Zheng Yuming, Ms. Su Cuizhi, Ms. Xie Yuxiang, and Ms. Wang Guiying, were tried online on June 9, 2023.

4. [Xinbin County, Liaoning Province] Ms. He Xiurong Arrested and Detained

Ms. He Xiurong was arrested by officers from the Xinbin Town Police Station at 11 a.m. on June 9, 2023, for talking to people about Falun Gong. The police ransacked her home and confiscated her Falun Gong books, a photo of Falun Gong’s founder, and her wall posters. Ms. He was taken to the Fushun Detention House and was placed under a 15-day detention.

5. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Ms. Nie Yan Arrested and Detained

Ms. Nie Yan was arrested by officers from the Weixin Road Police Station on May 31, 2023 when she talked to people about Falun Gong. Three officers ransacked her home. They confiscated her Falun Gong books, a media player, a printer, a cell phone, etc. She was taken to the Weizigou Detention House on June 1, 2023 and was transferred to the Weizigou Detention Center at 10 a.m. on June 8, 2023, where she has since been detained.

6. [Xuzhou City, Jiangsu Province] Ms. Fu Kui Detained

Ms. Fu Kui was taken to a brainwashing center on March 1, 2023 and later transferred to the Xuzhou City Detention Center.

7. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Zhang Honghua Arrested

Zhang Honghua from the Jiutai District was arrested by officers from the Mushihe Police Station on June 5, 2023. The police ransacked Zhang’s home and confiscated Falun Gong books and a photo of Falun Gong’s founder.

8. [Jixi City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Wang Yanqiu Arrested and Detained

Officers including Qiu Haiming, a deputy of the Domestic Security Division of Hulin City, and two officers from the Baodong Town Police Station, went to Ms. Wang Yanqiu’s home at noon on April 24, 2023. They ransacked her home without showing a search warrant, and confiscated her Falun Gong books and other personal belongings. Ms. Wang was detained for seven days.

9. [Beijing] Ms. Li Shuwei Arrested

Four officers from the Yuyang Police Station in Pinggu District went to Ms. Li Shuwei’s home on June 9, 2023. Ms. Li, in her 70s, was taken to a local detention center but was denied admission due to her health. She was released on bail pending trial later that day.

Ms. Li was arrested in late July 2022 and released on bail pending trial. She was informed in early June 2023 that her case had been submitted to the Procuratorate.

10. [Xuzhou City, Jiangsu Province] Mr. Ma Wende and Ms. Ding Liurong Arrested

Mr. Ma Wende and his wife Ms. Ding Liurong were arrested on February 28, 2023. Their home was ransacked. Mr. Ma’s mother became seriously ill after the couple was arrested.

The couple was detained for about one month in the Xuzhou City Brainwashing Center. Mr. Ma was then incarcerated for ten days in a detention house. His mother’s was in life danger when he was released. He worked at the Xuzhou City Bus Company but was fired after his arrest. His wife, Ms. Ding, was taken to the Xuzhou Detention Center after being detained for one month in the brainwashing center. She was released on bail pending trial in early May 2023.

11. [Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province] Three Practitioners Detained

Ms. Chen Shuling, Ms. Shi Yujie, and Ms. Dong Haiyan, have been arrested and detained for over 50 days for talking to people about Falun Gong.

12. [Kazuo County, Liaoning Province] Ms. Chen Hua Released after Being Detained for One Year

Ms. Chen Hua and her husband were arrested by officers from Chaoyang City and Kazuo County on June 1, 2022. She was sentenced to one year in prison and was held in the Kazuo County Detention Center and then the Chaoyang City Women’s Detention Center. She was released on June 5, 2023.

13. [Zhanjiang City, Guangdong Province] Ms. Li Hengchun Harassed

Ms. Li Hengchun was arrested and incarcerated in a detention center a few years ago. She was subsequently constantly harassed by local police. The police ransacked her home and confiscated all her Falun Gong books. Her son was pressured by the police to monitor her. Ms. Li is now hospitalized in Zhanjiang Hospital and has been diagnosed with breast cancer.

14. [Yinan County, Shandong Province] Mr. Liu Changpeng Arrested and Detained

Mr. Liu Changpeng, from Dongsuozhuang Village, Shuanghou Town, Yinan County, worked in Lanshan District, Linyi City. Several officers from the Shichang Police Station went to his rented apartment on the morning of May 28, 2023. They ransacked his home and confiscated his Falun Gong books and informational materials about Falun Gong. He was arrested and detained for ten days in the Lanshan District Detention House. He was released on June 7, 2023. His landlord was fined 500 yuan. His employer was threatened and told to fire him.

15. [Qiqihar City, Heilongjiang Province] Ten Practitioners Persecuted

Seven practitioners were arrested by officers in Longsha District in April 2023, including Yuan Hongying, Sheng Yi, Zhang Jiqiu, Wang Yuxian, Li Yan, Li Xia, and Li Shunying. Their homes were ransacked. Yuan Hongying and Sheng Yi were released on bail pending trial on June 5, 2023 due to high blood pressure. They were placed under residential surveillance. Surveillance cameras were installed near their homes. Zhang Jiqiu and Wang Yuxian were placed under official arrest. Li Yan, Li Xia, and Li Shunying were released later.

Li Fengqin, who was arrested in 2022 and detained in the Qiqihar Detention Center, has been sentenced to three years in prison.

Zhang Qing from Fuyu County was sentenced to two years in prison.

Yu Guimin from the Fulaerji District was sentenced to four years and six months in prison.
