Additional Persecution News from China – May 26, 2023 (15 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 15 cities or counties in 9 provinces, where at least 25 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Dazhou City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Liu Mingzhen and Ms. Li Jinru Face Trial

Ms. Liu Mingzhen and Ms. Li Jinru from the Dachuan District will be tried in the Dachuan District Court at 9:30 a.m. on June 9, 2023.

2. [Beijing] Ms. Wang Xiaomei Arrested

Ms. Wang Xiaomei from Yunnan Province rented a house in Chaofeng’an Village, Changping District, Beijing. On the afternoon of May 13, 2023, officers from the Songyuan Police Station in Changping District arrested her. The officers confiscated photos of the founder of Falun Gong and Falun Gong books. The officers also took her to the house in Nankou Town, Changping District, where she used to live, and ransacked the place. They confiscated her laptop and hard drives. The officers took Ms. Wang to the Liucun Detention Center in Changping District and interrogated her all night.

3. [Shulan City, Jilin Province] Three Practitioners Arrested

Police officers followed Ms. Cheng Shufang. They saw Ms. Cheng and Ms. Wang Jie going to Mr. Zhu Jifa’s house to pick up informational materials about Falun Gong and arrested the three practitioners.

Ms. Wang and Ms. Cheng are being held in the Jilin Detention Center. Mr. Zhu’s whereabouts are unknown.

4. [Qiqihar City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Jiang Chunmei Tried

Ms. Jiang Chunmei was tried by the Longjiang County Court on May 24, 2023. The court and Domestic Security Division used all sorts of excuses to prevent Ms. Jiang’s family members, relatives, and friends from attending the trial.

On March 27, 2020, Ms. Jiang was reported to the police for distributing Falun Gong materials. She was arrested at home by officers from the Longhua Police Station, in Longjiang County.

5. [Tangshan City, Hebei Province] Li Surong’s Home Ransacked

On March 22, 2023, officers from the Hanerzhuang Town Police Station in Qianxi County went to Xingshuwa Village to harass Li Surong (gender unknown). They took photos of the founder of Falun Gong from Li’s home.

6. [Rizhao City, Shandong Province] Mr. Ding Yuande Remains in Custody

Ms. Ma Ruimei and her husband Mr. Ding Yuande from Yanjiazhuang Village, Koguan Town, Wulian County, were arrested. The couple was held in the Xiaohai Border Police Station in Donggang District.

Ms. Ma was released on May 24, 2023. Mr. Ding remains in the detention center. The police continued to hold onto a cell phone and a laptop they confiscated. When Ms. Ma was released, the police station officers threatened that they would work on sentencing her husband to prison.

7. [Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province] The Case Against Mr. Wang Lin Brought to Court

Mr. Wang Lin was arrested and his home was ransacked by officers from the High-tech Zone Domestic Security Division on March 22, 2023. He was officially placed under arrest by the Linghai City Procuratorate on April 13. On May 25, a staff member of Linghai Court called Mr. Wang’s relatives and said that his lawyer should go directly to the court.

8. [Zhanjiang City, Guangdong Province] Ms. Huang Liyu Placed Under Residential Surveillance; Two Practitioners Held in Custody

Ms. Huang Liyu was arrested at home by more than twelve officers from the Rui’an Police Station in the Mazhang District on May 11, 2023. She was held in the police station for two days, then transferred to the Mazhang District Detention Center for five more days before she was released. The Mazhang District Police Department issued a residential surveillance decision.

Ms. Su Guiying and another practitioner were previously held in the Mazhang District Detention Center for two weeks.

9. [Xiantao City, Hubei Province] Ms. Yang Dongmei and Ms. Liu Yanqiu Remain in Custody

Ms. Yang Dongmei, who was originally scheduled to return home from the detention center on May 23, 2023, was instead placed in criminal detention. She has not yet returned home.

It was learned on May 24 that Ms. Liu Yanqiu, whose detention would have ended on May 18, was coaxed into going to the Huchang Police Station. The police took her into custody under the excuse of investigating the case. She has not been released.

10. [Yichun City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Zhang Guizhen Arrested

Ms. Zhang Guizhen, who lived alone, was arrested by officers from the Fendou Police Station of Jinlin District. Further details are pending.

11. [Guanghan City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Lai Shengrong’s Family Harassed

At noon on May 24, 2023, Qing Sanjiang among other officers from the Sanshui Town Police Station went to Ms. Lai Shengrong’s home to harass her husband. They told him to keep an eye on his wife and not let her go out.

12. [Longyao County, Hebei Province] Three Practitioners Arrested

Xiaoli, Huimian, and Xianling (surnames and genders unknown) were arrested by the police while distributing Falun Gong materials in Weizhuang Town on May 22, 2023. Later, they were taken to the Longyao County Police Department. On the afternoon of May 23, Xianling and Xiaoli returned home. Huimian was taken to the Longyao County Detention Center.

13. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Zhang Jun Arrested

Ms. Zhang Jun was arrested at home around 3 p.m. on May 22, 2023. Her room was in shambles, and photos of the founder of Falun Gong had been taken.

14. [Pengzhou City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Yang Tingju Harassed

Li’an Community Party secretary Li Neng led Guo Zengpo, Wu Ling, and Yue Junjun to Ms. Yang Tingju’s home around 4 p.m. on May 24, 2023. They told her to cooperate while they photographed her. She refused.

15. [Chaoyang City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Yang Bin and Wife Ms. Hu Xuefei Arrested

In mid-May 2023, people lost contact with Mr. Yang Bin and his wife Ms. Hu Xuefei. They later learned that the couple was arrested and taken to the Chaoyang City Detention Center.
