(Minghui.org) This May 13 marks the 31st anniversary of Falun Dafa’s public introduction and the 24th World Falun Dafa Day. To celebrate this special occasion and express their gratitude for all the benefits they’ve obtained from this ancient mind-body practice, Falun Dafa practitioners around the world began holding events last week.
Justin Towndale, mayor of the City of Cornwall, hosted the flag-raising ceremony in front of the city hall on May 8, 2023. The Falun Dafa flag flies high in the sky and is set to fly for seven days.

Mayor Justin Towndale said that Falun Dafa’s principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance are genuine values. It seamlessly ties in with the lives of Canadian people and are in sync with the values of Canada.
He said, “The principle ‘Truthfulness’ is important and essential in where I stand. I have responsibilities as an official to lead our district. We should be truthful, honest and have the ability to tolerate. Canadians have a down-to-earth spirit and are completely aligned with the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.
“Thank you Master Li Hongzhi for spreading this practice and allowing for so many people to benefit in mind and body. I am happy to honor World Falun Dafa Day and I look forward to the flag-raising every year.
Mayor Towndale also sent in his greetings to practitioners all over the world, especially to practitioners being persecuted in China. He said, “I wanted to let practitioners in China know that we feel your suffering and are together with you. I also strongly encourage you to persist. Please know that you are not alone in this persecution, as you are with hundreds of millions of people in the world. Thank you very much.”
City of Cornwall Proclaims World Falun Dafa Day
This is the tenth year that the City of Cornwall has proclaimed Falun Dafa Day. Mayor Justin Towndale read from the proclamation, “Whereas Falun Dafa (also known as Falun Gong) is a spiritual practice rooted in ancient schools of cultivation in China. It consists of meditative exercises and a moral philosophy aimed at the promotion of virtue.”

“Whereas since Falun Dafa’s public introduction in 1992, hundreds of millions of people from diverse cultural backgrounds in over 100 countries, including Canada, benefit from practicing Falun Gong.”
“Whereas Falun Dafa has demonstrated a steadfast commitment to improving health in mind, body, and spirit, as well as enhancing the well-being of people from diverse cultural background in over 100 countries.”
“Now therefore be it resolved that I, Justin Towndale, Mayor of the City of Cornwall, do hereby proclaim May 13, 2023, as “Falun Dafa Day” in the City of Cornwall, honouring Truthfulness-Compassion, and Tolerance.”

Mayor of Cornwall Hosts Flag Raising Ceremony to Celebrate World Falun Dafa Day
Ms. Dai Gongyu, a representative from the Falun Dafa Association of Canada, said, “Thank you, City of Cornwall, for your continued support of Falun Dafa. We would like to express our gratitude.”
She said, “Falun Dafa is rooted in the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance and is spread to the public by Master Li Hongzhi on May 13, 1992. This practice has spread to over 100 countries, including Canada, and has benefited over 100 million people.”
She continued, “For the past 20 years, Falun Dafa practitioners have been teaching this practice free of charge. They have contributed to the physical and mental well-being of Canadians, as well as creating a healthier and more harmonious society. Falun Dafa is commended by tens of thousands of people worldwide. Each year, Canadian officials, including federal legislators and provincial councilors and mayors, send their greetings and commendations.
“We have also received proclamations for World Falun Dafa Day from the City of Cornwall for the past ten years. We stood here for the flag-raising ceremony last year with the previous mayor. Today, we shall continue this tradition and do so with Mayor Towndale and celebrate World Falun Dafa Day.”
Abdusatar Hassani, a university student, said that the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance can guide one’s life.
A local resident was drawn to the flag-raising ceremony. Abdusatar Hassani, a university student, said, “Finding the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is very important. These principles can guide your life.”
