(Minghui.org) Mayor Mark Sutcliffe of Ottawa, Canada’s capital, proclaimed May 13 as Falun Dafa Day. This is the twelfth year Ottawa issued a proclamation. May 13, 2023, is the 31st anniversary of Falun Dafa’s public introduction and the 24th World Falun Dafa Day.

In his proclamation Mayor Sutcliffe stated, “Falun Dafa practitioners follow the principles of truthfulness, compassion, and tolerance and incorporate them into their daily lives, striving to become better people in all environments and situations.”
“Transcending the racial and cultural boundaries, Falun Dafa embraces people of all ages, from all walks of life and religious affiliations.”

Background: What Is Falun Dafa Day and Why Is It Commemorated?
Falun Dafa (also known as Falun Gong) was first introduced to the public by Mr. Li Hongzhi in Changchun, China, on May 13, 1992. The spiritual discipline is now practiced in over 100 countries and regions worldwide. Millions of people who have embraced the teachings, which are based on the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance, and learned the five exercises, have experienced improved health and well-being. In 1999, they began holding events to celebrate Falun Dafa Day.
