Additional Persecution News from China – May 2, 2023 (14 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 14 cities or counties in 9 provinces, where at least 20 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Liaocheng City, Shandong Province] Ms. Yin Junmei Sentenced to One Year in Prison

Ms. Yin Junmei, from Yanzhuang Township, Guan County, was sentenced to one year in prison. She was taken to prison by officers from the Yanzhuang Township Police Station in late February 2023.

2. [Huai’an City, Jiangsu Province] Ms. Zhu Yunxia and Ms. Lin Fengying Face Trial

Ms. Zhu Yunxia and Ms. Lin Fengying are scheduled to be tried in the Lianshui County Court at 9:30 a.m. on May 6, 2023.

3. [Weifang City, Shandong Province] Mr. Liu Jiageng Arrested and Detained

Mr. Liu Jiageng, 70, was arrested at home by officers from the Beimeng Town Police Station on the morning of March 30, 2023. He is currently detained in the Changyi City Detention Center.

4. [Dezhou City, Shandong Province] Ms. Fan Shiling Arrested and Detained

Ms. Fan Shiling from Xiajin County was arrested when she was distributing information about Falun Gong in May 2022. She has been detained since October 16, 2022 and is currently being held in the Dezhou City Detention Center.

5. [Mei County, Guangdong Province] Ms. Wang Xianghua Arrested

Ms. Wang Xianghua was reported to police for talking about Falun Gong to elementary school pupils, and was arrested by officers from the Chengjiang Police Station on or around April 27, 2023.

6. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Three Practitioners Arrested

Three practitioners including Ms. Zhang Zhifang, Zhang Dapeng from Xiangfang District, and Ms. Guo Yajuan from Daowai District, were arrested at Ms. Zhang Zhifang’s home in Dafangli Community, Daowai District on April 25, 2023. Officers from the Binjiang Police Station broke in and arrested the three practitioners. They ransacked their homes and confiscated many Falun Gong books.

7. [Langfang City, Hebei Province] Ms. Gao Xiuzhi and Ms. Li Shujun Detained

Ms. Gao Xiuzhi and Ms. Li Shujun, both from Yangmazhuang Township of Yongqing County, are being held in the Yongqing County Detention Center.

8. [Huludao City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Wu Shuling Arrested and Detained

Ms. Wu Shuling from Suizhong County was arrested on April 6, 2023. She was held for five days in the Huludao City Detention House and released on April 11, 2023.

9. [Jilin City, Jilin Province] Ms. Yao Yan and Ms. Yu Chen Arrested

Ms. Yao Yan and Ms. Yu Chen were reported to police for talking to people about Falun Gong in Minxin Community, Chuanying District, and were arrested by officers from the Zhihe Police Station on April 25, 2023. The police ransacked their homes the next day. They confiscated several pendants, 15 yuan in currency imprinted with information about Falun Gong, and the ID card from Ms. Yao’s home. They confiscated several truth-clarifying booklets, several pendants, 300 yuan in currency bills imprinted with Falun Gong information, around 10,000 yuan in cash, and the ID card from Ms. Yu’s home. The two practitioners were released on bail pending trial the next afternoon.

10. [Beijing] Zhang Ming Arrested and Detained

Zhang Ming from the Daxing District was arrested by twelve officers from the Beijing Police Department, the Daxing District Police Department, and the Guanansi Police Station at around 10 p.m. on March 10, 2023. The police ransacked Zhang’s home and confiscated all the Falun Gong books, a photo of Falun Gong’s founder, a media player, and other belongings. Zhang was detained for 13 days and has now returned home.

11. [Cangzhou City, Hebei Province] Ms. He Xiaoyan Arrested and Detained

Ms. He Xiaoyan from Suning County was arrested at midnight on May 1, 2023 when she accompanied her mother-in-law who was hospitalized in the county hospital. She is now incarcerated in the Cangzhou City Detention Center.

12. [Hui County, Henan Province] Mr. Yang Jinhan Persecuted

Mr. Yang Jinhan was arrested by officers including Shao Mingke, head of the Bobi Police Station, in late April 2022. He was held in the psychiatric department of the Baiquan Health Center in Hui County. Mr. Yang was discharged on January 10, 2023.

13. [Tianshui City, Gansu Province] Ms. Zhang Xiaojuan Arrested

Ms. Zhang Xiaojuan was taken from her workplace to her home by two officers including Lin Tao, head of the Tianshui Domestic Security Division, on April 28, 2023. The police ransacked her home and confiscated several Falun Gong books. They took Ms. Zhang to the police department for interrogation. Ms. Zhang did not cooperate and was released later that day.

14. [Tangshan City, Hebei Province] Four Practitioners Harassed or Arrested

Ms. Ma Yanqin and Ms. Sun Cuiqing were arrested by a group of officers when they were talking to people about Falun Gong on the morning of January 31, 2023. They were taken to the Qiulaobao Police Station in Tanghai County and released at noon.

Liu Jianrong went to Luannan County and talked to a plainclothes police officer about Falun Gong on April 15, 2023. Liu was arrested and detained for five days in the Luannan County Detention House, then released on April 19, 2023.

Ms. Ma Aiwu from Caofeidian District was arrested in Tanghai County for talking to people about Falun Gong on the morning of April 30, 2023. Her son, who does not practice, was called in and his blood sample was collected. She was threatened and told that her grandson would be called in and have a sample of his blood taken if she continued to talk to people about Falun Gong.
