Belgium: Practitioners Carry on the Peaceful Spirit of the April 25 Appeal during Protest at Chinese Embassy

(Minghui.org) Falun Dafa practitioners held a peaceful protest in front of the Chinese Embassy in Brussels on April 25, 2023, to mark the 24th anniversary of the April 25 Appeal in Beijing, twenty-four years ago. They held the event to expose the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) persecution of Falun Dafa and call on people to help stop the CCP’s ongoing brutality.

When physics teacher Jacques Bery passed by the practitioners’ activity, he said he’d heard about the persecution of Falun Dafa. He sympathized with practitioners and said that the CCP used lies to deceive people and slander Falun Dafa. He remarked, “A regime like the Chinese Communist Party is unbelievable. Human rights should belong to everyone.”

Mr. Bery invited practitioners to talk to his students about the CCP’s persecution of Falun Dafa practitioners in China.

Everyone Should Safeguard the Principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance

Nico Bijnens began practicing Falun Dafa in 2007. He reads Falun Dafa’s main book Zhuan Falun and meditates every day. He says that practicing has made him healthy, both physically and mentally.

Mr. Bijnens talked about his views on the peaceful petition in Beijing in 1999. “This shows the courage of Chinese Falun Dafa practitioners, and their good behavior in the protest,” he said. “I believe that many people are deeply impressed by their kindness.” 

He added, “Everyone has the responsibility to stand up for [Falun Dafa’s] values of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. Without these values, there would be nothing. We would even lose the essence of being human.”

Mr. Bijnens said that unfortunately, the then CCP head Jiang Zemin did not see it that way. He was extremely frightened by the scale and outstanding performance of practitioners during their appeal that day. Therefore, the CCP started large-scale arrests and detentions across China a few weeks later, beating and persecuting practitioners. Thousands of Falun Dafa practitioners and their families have been brutally persecuted. China has experienced the darkest situation in human history.

Nico Bijnens said that as long as the persecution does not stop, it is his responsibility to expose the CCP’s lies to the people of the world and stop the persecution. The CCP’s propaganda has spread to the whole world, misleading people. He feels that when people recognize the true nature of the CCP, they will wake up and stop listening to the propaganda.
