Poem: Holding On to Goodness

He saw a book unjustly banned.He had to tell the world:This book had given him back his health,his inner peace, and great morals.

She watched her friends get beaten and chained.She chose to take a stand.For kindhearted folk have a right to believein a life beyond death, in a promised land.

When meditation in groups became a crime,We looked to the sky, our hearts concerned.If truth, kindness, temperance—the values we share—are attacked, where should good people turn?

The day we stepped forth to defend our beliefs,is a story I’ll patiently tell.My genuine hope from the depths of my heartis that good people see the truth well.
