Calgary, Canada: Rally Commemorates the April 25 Appeal

(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioners in Calgary, Canada held a rally in front of the Chinese Consulate on April 25, 2023, to commemorate the 24th anniversary of the April 25 Appeal that happened in Beijing in 1999. 

Their large banners stated “Falun Dafa Is Good,” “Truthfulness Compassion Forbearance,” “Stop Persecution of Falun Gong,” “Stop Forced Organ Harvesting in China,” and, “Quit the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).” Drivers passing the activity waved at practitioners, honked to show their support, and some gave them the thumbs-up.

Mr. Jeff Yang, spokesperson for the Falun Dafa Association of Calgary, recalled the background of the April 25 Appeal, and how practitioners had peacefully appealed for their right to continue to practice their faith, following Falun Dafa's principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.

However, the peaceful appeal was defamed by the CCP and used as an excuse for its brutal persecution. Mr. Yang called on all people to see the true nature of the CCP, and hopes that they can be blessed by practicing Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.

Ms. Chen, a Falun Gong practitioner, recounted the CCP’s brutal persecution and the continuance of its persecution overseas. “Canadian government officials have become targets of the CCP’s agents, who tried to influence them, and tried to instill their view of Falun Gong on Canadians,” Ms. Chen said. She called for the Canadian government and police to stop the CCP’s persecution and infiltration. She also called for everyone to see through the CCP’s lies and stand on the side of justice. 

The Tibetan community happened to hold a demonstration across from the Chinese Consulate at the same time. A man named Kama Dorje told a reporter, “It’s so sad that Falun Gong practitioners are tortured, killed. and their organs harvested. I fully support Falun Gong’s demand to stop the persecution. They are peaceful. Why doesn’t the CCP allow Falun Gong? They are all Chinese. Why doesn’t the CCP give them freedom?”
