Additional Persecution News from China – April 13, 2023 (12 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 12 cities or counties in 7 provinces, where at least 20 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Ms. Jin Min Persecuted in Prison

Ms. Jin Min has been persecuted in the Jilin Province Women’s Prison. She developed high blood pressure, and now cannot speak. When her family visited her, the guards told them she would get medical treatment if the family agreed, but doctors would treat her as mental patient. If the family did not agree, she would be sent back to a strict management cell. Completely healthy practitioners are often sent to psychiatric wards for the purpose of discrediting Falun Gong and bringing great pressure to bear on those who resolutely adhere to their faith. Treatment in these facilities is inhumane to the extreme, often involving injecting practitioners with dangerous, mind-altering drugs which are known to damage the nervous system. During her previous imprisonment, Ms. Jin witnessed a practitioner who was fed some unknown liquid by guards begin twitching.

2. [Shulan City, Jilin Province] Ms. Zhao Changyan and Ms. Jiang Yanping Detained Over 20 Days

Ms. Zhao Changyan and Ms. Jiang Yanping have been held in the Jilin Detention Center for more than 20 days. They were formally arrested in early April.

3. [Xingtai City, Hebei Province] Ms. Xin Xiangfen and Mr. Wu Chunnian Sentenced

Ms. Xin Xiangfen and Mr. Wu Chunnian were tried by the Xiangdu District Court at 2:00 p.m. on March 16, 2023. The court sentenced Ms. Xin to a year in prison with one year suspended and fined 3,000 yuan; Mr. Wu was sentenced to six months of penal servitude with six months suspended and was fined 2,000 yuan.

4. [Beijing] Mr. Yuan Rongbao Arrested

Mr. Yuan Rongbao lives in Duolun County, Xilingol League, Inner Mongolia. He and his wife came to Beijing to visit her daughter. He went out to distribute Falun Gong flyers on April 11, 2023 and did not return. He had been arrested by police.

5. [Lianyungang City, Jiangsu Province] Mr. Zhang Xueyang and Ms. Shi Shuru Arrested

Mr. Zhang Xueyang of the Ganyu District was arrested at the end of March, 2023. Ms. Shi Shuru was arrested on April 11, 2023. Her home was ransacked.

6. [Baotou City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region] Wang Ying Detained

Wang Ying (gender unknown) lives in the Kun District. Wang and Ms. Meng (first name unknown) were arrested at the home of Zhang (first name and gender unknown) in the Donghe District around 9:00 p.m. on March 29, 2023, by officers from the Tiexi Police Station. Seven officers ransacked Wang’s home around midnight. They confiscated Wangs’ Falun Gong books, computers, and other belongings.

Two days later, eight officers from the police station ransacked Wang’s home again, and confiscated printers and CDs. Wang has been held in the Donghe District Detention Center since March 29.

Wang was arrested by officers from the Qingshan District Police Department on March 6, 2018, and held at the Qingshan District Detention Center for a year. Wang was sentenced to two years in prison by the Qingshan District Court. The Baotou City Intermediate Court denied Wang’s appeal.

7. [Zibo City, Shandong Province] Teng Lihua Faces Trial

Teng Lihua (gender unknown) will be tried in the Zichuan Court on the morning of April 13, 2023.

8. [Yakeshi City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region] Yang Shuqin and Several Practitioners Arrested

Yang Shuqin, Guo Changsuo, Zhang Liyan, Sun Wentian, Li Shuzhen, and other practitioners were arrested on April 8, 2023.

9. [Weihai City, Shandong Province] Ms. Zou Huaxiang Arrested

Ms. Zou Huaxiang, who is in her 70s, lives in the Economic Development District. She was arrested at home by officers from the Huancui District Domestic Security Division.

10. [Dongying City, Shandong Province] Mr. Zhong Siping Detained

Mr. Zhong Siping, a retiree from the Shengli Oil Field Geophysical Research Institute, was arrested on the morning of March 21, 2023. Officers from the Jidi Domestic Security Division and the Wuhua Police Station, as well as workers from his former employer, identified him as the one distributing Falun Gong flyers on the evening of February 16 through security surveillance video. They seized his Falun Gong books and other belongings. He was released the next day.

Police had him report to the Domestic Security Division on the morning of April 11, 2023, and ordered him to sign on some documents regarding the “evidence.” Before he did, they declared that he was given a 14-day administrative detention and his passport was revoked for three years.

11. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Wang Jiwu Detained

Mr. Wang Jiwu lives in Handian Town, Shuangcheng District. He was released on bail pending trial for practicing Falun Gong. He was arrested for the third time by the Zhanqian Police Station officers between 6-7 p.m. on April 4, 2023. It happened at the gate of his rental home community when he and his wife were returning home from work. The officers had him undergo three physical exams. He was diagnosed with heart and blood problems each time. The officers had his family sign papers on April 11, saying that he was admitted to the Shuangcheng Detention Center on April 10. He is now on a hunger strike.

12. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Wang Jinghui Taken to Liaoning Province Women's Prison

Ms. Wang Jinghui, 65, was arrested on February 7, 2022 for distributing informational materials about Falun Gong. She was sentenced to eighteen months by the Yuhong District Court and was taken to the Liaoning Province Women's Prison on April 5, 2023.
