(Minghui.org) A 76-year-old Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province resident was recently sentenced to five years for her faith in Falun Gong.
Ms. Pan Huiling was arrested on July 14, 2020 for talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong by the Chinese communist regime, which has been ongoing since 1999. She was held at the Guangzhou City No. 1 Detention Center. Details about her sentencing aren’t clear.
Before Ms. Pan took up Falun Gong in October 1998, she struggled with a severe stomach condition, chronic colitis and lumbar disc herniation. Shortly after she learned the Falun Gong exercises, she regained her health and felt that her life was renewed.
For distributing informational materials about Falun Gong, Ms. Pan was arrested on October 31, 2001. After three months at the Liwan District Detention Center, she was given a two-year labor camp term and forced to work without pay.
Ms. Pan was arrested again on May 12, 2010 for distributing informational materials about Falun Gong. She was held at the Nanhai Detention Center for nine months and then sentenced to three years and three months at the Guangdong Province Women’s Prison. She was forced to package socks in prison, also without pay. A total of 46,200 yuan of her pension was suspended during her prison term.
