Additional Persecution News from China – April 9, 2023 (11 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 9 cities or counties in 7 provinces, where at least 24 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Qinhuangdao City, Hebei Province] Ms. Wang Guiru Sentenced to Eight Months in Prison
2. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Ms. Nan Tianju and Ms. Xia Huanzhen Arrested

11. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Four Practitioners Arrested

1. [Qinhuangdao City, Hebei Province] Ms. Wang Guiru Sentenced to Eight Months in Prison

Ms. Wang Guiru from the Economic and Technological Development Zone was tried in the Funing District Court on February 23, 2023. She was summoned to the Funing District Court on the morning of April 4, 2023, and was directly taken to the No.1 Detention Center. She was told that she would be detained for 10 months.

2. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Ms. Nan Tianju and Ms. Xia Huanzhen Arrested

Ms. Nan Tianju from the Huangpu District was arrested at home by officers from the Hengdian Street Police Station on April 7, 2023. She was placed under 15-day detention and was sent to the Dongxihu District Women’s Detention House. Her home was ransacked. The police confiscated a Falun Gong book and a desk calendar.

Ms. Xia Huanzhen from the Huangpi District was arrested at home by officers from the Hengdian Street Police Station on April 8, 2023. Her home was ransacked. She was released later.

3. [Chifeng City, Inner Mongolia] Ms. Cong Zizhi Arrested

Ms. Cong Zizhi was arrested at home by several officers including Huang Xuefeng head of the Ningcheng County Domestic Security Division, at 1 p.m. on April 6, 2023. Her home was ransacked. Her Falun Gong books and photo of Falun Gong’s founder were confiscated. Ms. Cong was taken to the Ningcheng County Detention Center.

4. [Huludao City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Wu Shuling Arrested

Ms. Wu Shuling was arrested on April 6, 2023, and was told that she would be detained for five days.

5. [Guiyang City, Guizhou Province] Ms. Wang Guoxiu Arrested

Ms. Wang Guoxiu was arrested on the morning of April 7, 2023, for talking to people about Falun Gong. She was taken to the Pingqiao Police Station.

6. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Ms. Zhang Lanfen Arrested

Ms. Zhang Lanfen lives in the Shilipeng Village, Shekou Street Sub-district, Huangpi District. She was arrested around 7 a.m. on April 7, 2023 but was released that evening.

7. [Qitaihe City, Heilongjiang Province] Ten Practitioners Brainwashed in Prison

Ten practitioners who were sentenced and detained in the Qitaihe City Detention Center were brainwashed under the orders of Guo Songhai from the Heilongjiang Province 610 Office and Yang Bo, deputy of the Domestic Security Division in the provincial police department, on March 19, 2023. 

Among these practitioners, Ms. Guo Chunling was sentenced to eight and a half years in prison; Ms. Zou Yulan was sentenced to seven years in prison; Ms. Wen Yanhua was sentenced to four years in prison; Ms. Guan was sentenced to four years in prison; Ms. Li Li was sentenced to three years in prison; Mr. Zhang Guangcai who is Ms. Guo Chunling’s husband was sentenced to three years in prison; Mr. Zhang Guangcai’s mother was sentenced to one year in prison; Mr. Zhang Guangcai’s sister was sentenced to 10 months in prison; Ms. Zhang Shuli was sentenced to one year in prison; and Ms. Zhao Juan was also sentenced to an unknown length of time. Gu Songhai told the practitioners that they would be released as long as they signed the guarantee statement (to stop practicing Falun Gong). Ms. Guo Chunling was threatened that her sister-in-law’s and mother-in-law’s terms would be extended if she refused to sign it.

8. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Ms. Zhou Hongyan Arrested

Ms. Zhou Hongyan and Ms. Zhang were arrested at their rented apartment by officers from the Yangluo Street Police Station on March 29, 2023. The police had been monitoring the apartment because Ms. Zhang stayed there before. 

Ms. Zhou Hongyan was sentenced to three and a half years in prison in 2016.

9. [Yantai City, Shandong Province] Ms. Lin Kuimei Arrested

Ms. Lin Kuimei was arrested near the Yantai Railway Station by officers from the Zhanqian Police Station on the morning of April 6, 2023, for talking to people about Falun Gong near the Yantai Railway Station. She was released on bail pending trial the next evening.

10. [Xingtai City, Hebei Province] Mr. Yu Fujiang Sentenced to Eight Months in Prison

Mr. Yu Fujiang was tried in the Xiangdu District Court and was sentenced to eight months in prison on February 2, 2023. He was released on bail pending trial on February 24, 2023.

11. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Four Practitioners Arrested

Ms. Zhan, about 83, was arrested by eight plainclothes officers from the Jinzhou Station Police Station on April 5, 2023. The police confiscated her Falun Gong books, pamphlets about Falun Gong, paper bills imprinted with information about Falun Gong, and other items. 

Three other practitioners Ms. Meng, Ms. Liu, and Ms. Zhao, were also arrested and their homes were ransacked. Ms. Meng and Ms. Liu are detained in the Yaojia Detention Center. Ms. Zhan has been released.
