Additional Persecution News from China – April 6, 2023 (16 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today’s news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 15 cities or counties in 8 provinces, where at least 25 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Yilan County, Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Zhu Deshan and Mr. Bai Hongyou Face Trial

Mr. Zhu Deshan and Mr. Bai Longyou will be tried in the Yilan County Court at 8:30 a.m. on April 7, 2023.

2. [Shenze County, Hebei Province] Eight Practitioners Tried in Court

Eight practitioners including He Hongyan, Liu Xiaomiao, Liu Yuru, Ma Tongxin, Jiao Yaqin, Liu Chengwu, Tian Xuan, and Du Guofang, will be tried in the Jinzhou City Court on April 4, 2023.

3. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Wang Jiwu Arrested

Mr. Wang Jiwu lives in Gongchenghao Village, Handian Town, Shuangcheng District. He was arrested by officers from the Zhanqian Police Station in the Shuangcheng District on April 4, 2023.

4. [Fusong County, Jilin Province] Ms. Wang Liqin Arrested

Ms. Wang Liqin from Fusong County was arrested at home by officers from the Fusong County Police Department on the afternoon of March 31, 2023.

5. [Zhuozhou City, Hebei Province] Ms. Zang Cuiqing and Her Family Persecuted

Officers from the Yihezhuang Township Police Station and the Zhuozhou City Domestic Security Division went to ransack Ms. Zang Cuiqing’s home on March 24, 2023. When Ms. Zang’s son tried to take a photo of the search warrant with his cell phone, the officers smashed his phone, threw it on the floor and handcuffed him with both hands behind his back. When Ms. Zang and her husband Mr. Li Youliang tried to prevent them from taking their son away, both of them were also handcuffed and arrested. The three family members were taken to the Yihezhuang Township Police Station. Ms. Zang’s son was released that evening. Mr. Li Youliang was taken to a detention center. Ms. Zang was placed under five-day detention, which was later extended to 10 days until April 9, 2023.

6. [Beijing] Ms. Xiu Yanpeng Arrested

Ms. Xiu Yanpeng from Penglai District lives in Suojiafen Community, Beitaipingzhuang Sub-district, Haidian District. A delivery person reported her to police after she gave him a USB drive. Ms. Xiu was arrested at home by officers from the Beitaipingzhuang Police Station on March 1, 2023. Her home was ransacked. Two boxes of materials which had information about Falun Gong were confiscated.

7. [Xiangtan City, Hunan Province] Ms. Mo Liqiong Detained in Prison

Ms. Mo Liqiong, an accountant, was transferred from the Xiangtan City Detention Center to the Changsha Women’s Prison on March 15, 2023. Ms. Mo was sentenced to two years and six months in prison. She should be released on August 5, 2023.

8. [Chengdu City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Huang Chaofen Arrested

Plainclothes officers from the Wujin Police Station in Xinjin District went to Ms. Huang Chaofen’s home on March 24, 2023. When Ms. Huang refused to go with them to the police station, they handcuffed her and took her away. They also ransacked her home and confiscated about 50 Falun Gong books, five photos of Falun Gong’s founder, two media players and three bundles of incense sticks.

Ms. Huang was taken to have physical examination and then taken to the Xinjin District Detention House. She was detained for five days and was released on March 29, 2023.

9. [Yantai City, Shandong Province] Ms. Ren Cuirong Arrested

Ms. Ren Guirong was arrested at home by officers from the Police Station in the Zijingshan Sub-district on April 4, 2023. They ransacked her home and confiscated two computers and three printers. She was released later that day. Her cell phone was not returned.

10. [Donggang City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Wang Binglin Arrested

Mr. Wang Binglin, over 80, was arrested by a plainclothes officer when he distributed information about Falun Gong in a rural market on February 7, 2023. He was released later that day. Four days later, Mr. Wang was informed that he was fined 1000 yuan and was placed under 15-day detention which would be executed outside of the detention house due to his age.

11. [Nong’an County, Jilin Province] Ms. Meng Min Arrested

Ms. Meng Min from Helong Town, over 80, was arrested by officers from the Helong Town Police Station for talking to a plainclothes officer about Falun Gong on the morning of April 4, 2023. The police ransacked her home and confiscated her computer, printer, etc. Ms. Meng was placed under detention.

12. [Lingyuan City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Zhang Kunshan Sentenced to Seven Years in Prison

Twelve practitioners were arrested on June 11, 2021 and six of them were sentenced. One of them is Mr. Zhang Kunshan who was sentenced to seven years in prison. Mr. Zhang appealed to the intermediate court but the original verdict was upheld. He is currently detained in the Jinzhou City Prison. He has started to appeal again.

13. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Mr. Zhang Qingyuan Arrested

Mr. Zhang Qingyuan has been persecuted and displaced for many years. One of his hands is disabled. Mr. Zhang was arrested in his rented apartment in Yangluo Street, Xinzhou District, on March 29, 2023, and was taken to the Xinhua Road Police Station.

14. [Yishui County, Shandong Province] Ms. Bian Yuhua Placed Under Residential Surveillance

Ms. Bian Yuhua was arrested at home by officers from the Chengnan Police Station in mid-March 2023. She was denied admission by the Linyi City Detention Center because she had symptoms of high blood pressure and was placed under residential surveillance.

15. [Yantai City, Shandong Province] Mr. Yang Guorong Persecuted

Mr. Yang Guorong from Zhifu District was arrested on the street for talking to people about Falun Gong in November 2022. His home was ransacked. He was released on bail pending trial that evening. 

His son recently received a call from the Fenghuantai Police Station, stating that Mr. Yang must report to the police station otherwise the bail pending trial would be voided and he would face criminal custody.

16. [Jixi City, Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Zhang Zuojun Arrested

Mr. Zhang Zuojun was arrested by officers from the Xiangyang Police Station in the Jiguan District on March 31, 2023. His home in Mishan was ransacked that evening. He is currently held in the Jixi City Detention Center.
