Additional Persecution News from China – March 3, 2023 (23 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 20 cities or counties in 11 provinces, where at least 31 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Shanghai] Xu Yongqing Sentenced to Four Years

Xu Yongqing, a senior engineer, was sentenced to four years in prison and taken from the Longquan City Detention Center to the No. 2 Prison of Zhejiang Province on March 1, 2023.

2. [Jinan City, Shandong Province] Mr. Qiao Chenglin Sentenced to One Year

Mr. Qiao Chenglin from Zhangqiu District was sentenced to one year in prison last year. He was taken from the No. 4 Detention Center of Jinan City to the Shandong Province Prison on February 24, 2023.

3. [Linghai City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Wei Xiuying Sentenced to Five Years

Ms. Wei Xiuing was sentenced to five years in prison by the Linghai City Court. She appealed her case.

4. [Meizhou City, Guangdong Province] Mr. Xie Hankui Arrested

Mr. Xie Hankui from the Meizhou District was arrested on the way to work on the morning of February 24, 2023. His home was ransacked. His Falun Gong books and laptop were confiscated. He was released that afternoon. Mr. Xie was arrested again on the morning of February 28, 2023, and was placed in criminal detention.

5. [Weifang City, Shandong Province] Ms. Yin Yuxiu Arrested and Detained

Ms. Yin Yuxiu, around 70, was arrested at home by five officers from the Kuiwen District Police Department at 4:30 p.m. on February 16, 2023. Her home was ransacked. She is currently held in the Weifang Detention Center.

6. [Panjin City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Ding Yanxia and Her Sister Ms. Ding Yanqing Arrested

Ms. Ding Yanxia was arrested at her workplace by four officers from the Liaohe Police Station in Shuangtaizi District at 9 a.m. on March 2, 2023. The police went to her home and arrested her sister Ms. Ding Yanqing and her non-practitioner daughter. They ransacked her home and confiscated her Falun Gong books, the photo of Falun Gong’s founder, and other personal belongings. Her daughter was released later.

7. [Zhongwei City, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region] Mr. You Haijun Faces
Trial

Mr. You Haijun from Zhongning County will be tried in Shapetou Court at 2 p.m. on March 20, 2023.

8. [Langfang City, Hebei Province] Ms. Fan Meiling Arrested

Ms. Fan Meiling was arrested on March 2, 2023. Her home was ransacked.

9. [Huludao City, Liaoning Province] The Original Verdict Against Mr. Luan Changhui Upheld

Mr. Luan Changhui, 52, is an engineer at Bohai Shipyard. He was arrested at his workplace by officers including Sun Yuzhou, head of the Bianfang Police Station in the Longgang District, on July 20, 2021. He was placed under official arrest on August 3, 2021. His case was submitted to the Lianshan District Procuratorate on September 24, 2021. He was sentenced to four years in prison and fined 20,000 yuan by the Lianshan District Court on November 24, 2021.

Mr. Luan appealed to the Huludao Intermediate Court. The original verdict was upheld without a new hearing on January 25, 2022. His family appealed again. The verdict was still upheld by the Intermediate Court on December 22, 2022. Mr. Luan was recently transferred to the No.1 Prison of Shenyang City.

10. [Huludao City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Li Zhifen and Ms. Cui Bing were Sentenced to Four Years and Two Years in prison Respectively

Ms. Li Zhifen from Xingcheng City, 56, was subjected to three years of forced labor on February 4, 2004. She was arrested in Xingcheng City on August 25, 2013, and was released on bail pending trial on September 30, 2013. Ms. Li left home for years and was placed on the wanted list. She was arrested at home by officers from the Gucheng Police Station on August 14, 2022, and was taken to the Wenquan Police Station. She was then taken to the Huludao Detention Center. Ms. Li was sentenced to four years in prison and fined 2000 yuan by the Xingcheng District Court on September 27, 2022.

Ms. Cui Bing from Nanpiao District, 60, was arrested at home by officers from the Jijiatun Police Station in Nanpiao New District at 5 a.m. on August 19, 2022. Her home was ransacked twice and about 4000 yuan was confiscated. She was taken to the Huludao Detention Center. Ms. Cui was sentenced to two years in prison and fined 5000 yuan by the Lianshan District Court on December 19, 2022. She appealed to the Huludao Intermediate Court but the original verdict was upheld on February 21, 2023.

11. [Shanghai] Ms. Yang Manye Released After Two Years in Prison

Ms. Yang Manye was arrested in the Jing’an District on February 25, 2021, and was taken to the Jing’an District Detention Center. She was sentenced to two years in prison and fined 8000 yuan on September 24, 2021. She was released on February 24, 2023.

12. [Macheng City, Hubei Province] Yang Shuanghuan Harassed

Officers from the Huangni’ao Police Station in Yantian District harassed Yang Shuanghuan at home four times on February 24, 2021, February 24, 2022, September 28, 2022, and February 27, 2023. They confiscated Yang’s Falun Gong books and burned some of them.

13. [Tianjin] Ms. Liang Hui Arrested and Detained

Ms. Liang Hui from Nankai District was arrested when she distributed truth-clarifying materials on February 23, 2023. Her family received the notice on March 1, 2023, and learned that she was in the Nankai District Detention Center. Her two teenage daughters were left alone at home. Ms. Liang has raised her daughters by herself for years.

14. [Zunyi City, Guizhou Province] Ms. Huang Kangli Arrested

Ms. Huang Kangli from Tongzi County was arrested at home by local police on March 1, 2023. She is still detained.

15. [Shanghai] Ms. Feng Juying Arrested

Ms. Feng Juying from Hongkou District, 91, was arrested in February 2023. Her home was ransacked. She was released later that day. Ms. Feng has been arrested multiple times.

16. [Suining City, Sichuan Province] The Case Against Ms. Chen Qiuju and Ms. He Xuemei Submitted to the Court

Ms. Chen Qiuju and Ms. He Xuemei have been detained in the Yongxing Detention Center. The case against them was submitted to the Pengxi County Court on February 27, 2023.

17. [Shouguang City, Shandong Province] Ms. Wang Guirong Arrested

Ms. Wang Guirong was arrested at home by twelve police officers at 11 a.m. on February 28, 2023. She was released that evening.

18. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Liu Gangli Persecuted in Prison

Ms. Liu Gangli was taken to the No. 2 Women’s Prison of Liaoning Province on August 6, 2022. She was placed in strict control and has not been allowed to see her family for over five months.

19. [Jixi City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Zhou Shengyu Arrested and Detained

Ms. Zhou Shengyu from Jiguan District was reported to the police for talking to people about Falun Gong and was arrested by officers from the Xiangyang Police Station at 5 or 6 p.m. on February 8, 2023. She was detained for 15 days and was released on February 23, 2023.

20. [Beijing] Ms. Deng Huiru Faces Trial

Ms. Deng Huiru was reported to the police for distributing truth-clarifying materials and was arrested at home on February 7, 2023. She was sent to the Fengtai Detention Center and will be tried in court on March 10, 2023.

21. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Ms. Wang Xiujun and Mr. Wang Qixue Persecuted

Ms. Wang Xiujun was taken to the Weizigou Detention House on February 20, 2023.

Mr. Wang Qixue from Nong’an County was arrested on February 19, 2023. He was detained for 10 days and was released on March 2, 2023.

22. [Baoding City, Hebei Province] Ms. Wang Fenglan Arrested

Ms. Wang Fenglan lives in Maguanying Village, Caohe Town, Xushui District. She was arrested and released later on March 1, 2023.

23. [Wenzhou City, Zhejiang Province] Liu Jingshu Sentenced to Eight Years in Prison

Liu Jingshu from Wenzhou City was arrested by officers from the Jianxi District Police Department in Luoyang City, Henan Province on March 26, 2021. Liu Jingshu was sentenced to eight years in prison by the Jinxi District Court on August 11, 2022.

Three other practitioners Yang Li from Zhejiang Province, Wu Jimin from Zhejiang Province, and Zeng Zhiqiang from Qingdao City, Shandong Province, were also arrested.

All four practitioners were sentenced to prison and are incarcerated in the Luoyang City Detention Center.
