(Minghui.org) Falun Dafa practitioners held a candlelight vigil in Nuremberg, the city of human rights, on December 10, 2023, International Human Rights Day. They commemorated practitioners who had been tortured to death in China, exposed the crimes of organ harvesting by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), and called on Western people to pay attention to the ongoing persecution in China.

Practitioners held a candlelight vigil in the city of human rights, Nuremberg, on December 10, International Human Rights Day.

Practitioners demonstrated the exercises during the event in Nuremberg.

Nuremberg was previously one of Hitler’s base camps. After World War II, Nazi war criminals were placed on trial in Nuremberg. In 1988, 27 round, white pillars were erected on Kartaeusergasse street. Each pillar is engraved with one article of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, in German and another language. Together with the base, all 30 articles are engraved on the monument.

The left photo is the first article of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, while the right photo is the 22nd article. These are the only pillars with articles engraved in Chinese.

The day of the event, practitioners lit candles on Hallplatz Square to commemorate practitioners who were tortured to death in China. Many tourists who visited Nuremberg’s Christmas Market stopped to read the information, and some spoke to practitioners. They signed the petition to support practitioners in calling for an end to the persecution after learning the facts.

Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance is the Best Quality a Nation Can Have

Thomas Blümel, an industrial designer, expressed support for ending the persecution of Falun Dafa.

Thomas Blümel, who signed the petition calling for an end to the persecution, said he previously heard of organ harvesting and signed the petition after he noticed the practitioners’ activities. “I think (organ harvesting) is ridiculous. Personal safety cannot be violated.”

When he learned that practitioners are being persecuted by the CCP for practicing Falun Dafa, and the regime forbids Chinese citizens from following the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, Thomas said it was inconceivable, “Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is the best quality a nation can have.”

He said the CCP’s actions, “Are not beneficial to Chinese people,” and the regime’s suppression shows their “desire for power.”

You Should Call Attention to the Injustice

Sabina Spohing, a pediatrician, spoke to practitioners for a long time. She expressed her opposition to the CCP’s organ harvesting and signed the petition. “It’s easy to see there’s a shortage of organs, but this (organ harvesting) is a violation of human rights. I think such acts are not widely known, or (perhaps) everyone would rather turn a blind eye to it.”

She thinks it is important to raise awareness, “If everyone is united, it’s possible to exert pressure. Therefore I am optimistic. Let everyone act together, and we can get some results.”

She said practitioners were very peaceful, “This is a form of meditation from the East. It is a completely different world.”

Sabina calls on people to pay attention to the injustice. She thought it was important for practitioners to raise awareness during the Christmas season because, “This pertains to Christmas – Jesus was born in the stable not the palace.”

Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance Are Core Principles for Everyone in the World

Brigitta Schlüter thinks the persecution of Falun Dafa by the CCP is a disaster.

When retired teacher Brigitta Schlüter noticed practitioners’ candlelight vigil she went to the table and signed the petition. She explained that she volunteers for the Catholic church and the movement for fair trade, “I always sign petitions that support human rights’ issues.”

She thought it was inconceivable that the CCP stopped people from following the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance in its 24-year-long persecution of Falun Dafa. “This is a disaster. These are core principles for everyone in the world. We cannot accept such suppression!”

Alissia Winterstein, a retired secretary, said she signed the petition to protest against organ harvesting by the CCP because, “Taking organs without consent, I think this is terrible.”

She also thinks practitioners are “amazing and peaceful.” She said, “It’s terrible that the CCP stops people from following the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance. People have the right to do what is good for them, and without doubt, Falun Dafa is a good thing.”
