(Minghui.org) In commemoration of International Human Rights Day, December 10, 2023, Falun Dafa practitioners in Cyprus held an event to tell people about the ongoing persecution of their fellow practitioners in China. They set up an information booth and display in the middle of Eleftherias Square in central Nicosia, the capital of Cyprus; demonstrated the exercises; and handed out flyers.

People were interested in Falun Dafa.
Nicosia is located in the middle of Cyprus, an island in the eastern Mediterranean Sea. It has been continuously inhabited for over 4,500 years and has been the capital of Cyprus since the 10th Century. It is also the financial center of the island.
During their activity in Nicosia’s central square, practitioners demonstrated the five Falun Dafa exercises and distributed flyers to people passing by. Many stopped to watch, and some asked about Falun Dafa and why the CCP (Chinese Communist Party) is persecuting it.
A young Chinese man said he’d heard about Falun Dafa and the persecution while he was in China, thanks to the efforts of Chinese practitioners who inform the public at great risk to their own lives.
He and his European friend are traveling around the world. They stopped and watched as practitioners did the exercises and listened to a practitioner explain the details of the practice and the brutality that practitioners face in China for upholding their belief. The young men thanked the practitioner for giving them more details.
A couple who lived for many years in South Africa talked with a practitioner about Falun Dafa. They were very touched by the Chinese practitioners’ resilience in the face of pressure and the efforts of practitioners outside of China to raise awareness. “This practice is so good and pure,” the wife said. “I am sure that it helps people in this troubled world we live in.”
A family sat opposite the practitioners for about 20 minutes and watched as they did the exercises. The daughter didn’t want to leave, saying that it was very calm where the practitioners were.

Christos stopped by the practitioners’ stand and said that when he traveled to Thailand for taekwondo activities, he met Falun Dafa practitioners in a park there and tried the Falun Dafa exercises. He said that he was, “Very glad to see Falun Dafa practitioners in Cyprus.”
