(Minghui.org) It was recently confirmed by Minghui.org that a Puning City, Guangdong Province, resident has been sentenced to two years for practicing Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Over ten officers from the Puning City Police Department and Daba Town Police Station broke into Ms. Li Miaozhu’s home on December 13, 2022 and arrested her. Her Falun Gong books and cellphone were confiscated. Her electric car was also impounded.
Ms. Li’s family received a criminal detention notice for her days later. The notice stated that she was held at the Puning City Detention Center, but she was not there when her family went to visit her. After asking around, her loved ones were told that she was temporarily held at the Puning Drug Rehabilitation Center for pandemic quarantine and that she would be transferred to the detention center on December 23.
Ms. Li’s family later learned that her arrest was approved on January 17, 2023. They recently confirmed that she had been sentenced to two years and she was held at the Jiedong District Detention Center at the time of writing.
Ms. Li, in her 50s, used to suffer multiple diseases, including gastritis, arthritis, migraine, and low blood pressure. Her medical cost brought enormous financial burden to her family. After she took up Falun Gong, she regained her health and improved her moral character.
