(Minghui.org) I’m now 60 years old. My mother told me that due to her severe malnutrition, I was born weighing only about 3 lbs, so I’ve been very weak throughout my life. I suffered from vertigo caused by hypoglycemia, have fainted many times, and often suffered from angina. In 2002, I was found to have severe stomach problems.

My parents had multiple severe illnesses. My father had numbness and stiffness in his legs and stomach problems. My mother had heart disease and osteomalacia (a bone condition caused by a vitamin D deficiency). After they started practicing Falun Dafa in 1998, all of their illnesses disappeared.

During the summer months, my father could only eat hot meals. He wouldn’t dare touch cold food and, as a result, he was very skinny. After practicing Falun Dafa, he could eat food taken directly from the refrigerator and started gaining weight.

As I witnessed my father’s changes, I started to learn Falun Dafa in 2002, with the intention of curing my ailments.

I was attracted by Dafa’s teachings of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance and was amazed by the requirement that practitioners “ ... should not fight back when being punched or insulted ... ” (Lecture Four, Zhuan Falun).

As I read more Dafa books, especially the main text, Zhuan Falun, I understood Master Li’s teachings on “no loss, no gain,” and the difference between virtue and karma, which tells people that by the loss of personal interest and doing good deeds, one can accumulate virtue; while hitting, cursing, bullying, and harming others can generate a great deal of karma. With virtue, people will experience health, peace, wealth, and happiness, and with karma, people will meet with calamities in the form of illness, disasters, and loss of wealth.

After I started practicing Dafa, I invited my father-in-law to live with us in the city. I was busy with my business while taking care of him. I was once hit by a car from behind while riding a motorcycle but did not ask the driver for compensation.

I owned a restaurant and treated my customers as family members by helping them plan to spend less but still eat well. I purchased quality ingredients and maintained a high level of cleanliness. I won the trust of my customers, and my business was booming. I later wanted to sell my business and signed a contract. The other party paid a 10,000 yuan deposit. But when they defaulted on the contract, I returned the deposit in full.

By reading Falun Dafa books a lot, I changed completely in the way I treated people. I would also like to share stories about my family members, who do not practice Dafa, but took the initiative to be good people under the influence of my words and deeds.

My Husband Does Not Pursue Petty Gains

My husband drove our daughter to find wild vegetables. After returning home, he said excitedly that he picked up a treasure (he liked to collect old things). I saw a soil-stained, delicate, brownish-red porcelain jar and asked him where he got it. He said he dug it out from under an apple tree. He took the jar to the bathroom and started cleaning it. I stood in the doorway and said, “You know, you got the treasure, but someone’s lost it. If that person didn’t want it, he or she would not bury it in the ground.”

He didn’t say anything. After a while, he held a spotless bright jar in his hands as he walked out of the bathroom. He said, “I’ll return it!” He then drove back to where he found the jar and reburied it under the apple tree.

My husband is a chef. One year, he was hired to work in a hotel. He told me that the other workers exited through the side door, but only he went through the front. I asked him why. He told me that his colleagues took items from the hotel and feared being seen. After hearing this, I was glad that he didn’t take things that were not his.

My Conscientious Daughter

My daughter called me from her school and said while crying: “I went out today with a classmate who bought something from an elderly man. She gave him 50 yuan, and he mistakenly gave the 50 yuan back. My classmate took the money and left. I chased after her, saying, ‘The man gave you extra change by mistake.’ She did not say a word and continued walking. At the dormitory, she yelled at me: ‘I saved your face today and returned the money to that man. From now on, mind your own business!’

“I wanted good for my classmate. If she hadn’t returned the money to that man, she would lose virtue. Not only did she not thank me, but she was angry. It’s not easy for him to sell things. It’s not nice to cheat him.”

“You did the right thing,” I responded. “I support you. Your intention is good. If you can pay attention to the way you deal with conflicts, things will go better.”
