(Minghui.org) There is a retired professor, nearly 80, in our community. Although he doesn’t practice Falun Dafa himself, he supports those of us who do and helps protect some practitioners. He asks me for the latest version of the software that enables him to access uncensored information from websites outside China. He said he longs for the day when the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) will collapse.

Before he retired, this professor had a leadership role in a college, and my husband worked in his department. He knew that my husband practiced Falun Dafa and often commented that he was kind and took personal interest lightly. The professor was persecuted during the Cultural Revolution, so he understands just how evil the CCP is.

Shortly after the April 25, 1999 appeal when 10,000 Falun Dafa practitioners gathered peacefully outside the government compound to demand a peaceful environment to practice their faith, he reminded us to be careful: “The CCP wouldn’t be concerned if you were a group of rogues, but they might start some campaign against you because you are good people.”

Sure enough, three months later, the persecution of Falun Dafa started. The school leadership held a meeting to talk about how to force practitioners who worked at the university to give up their faith. The professor visited us one night and told us that most of the people at the meeting slandered Falun Dafa to protect themselves. Still, he said, “I don’t know much about Falun Dafa itself, but at least I know those who practice it in our school are all good people.” He said that no one else said anything after he spoke, and the meeting soon ended. We truly appreciated his speaking out in that situation.

As the persecution unfolded, some of the practitioner teachers at the school were given labor camp terms, and some were threatened with firing if they didn’t renounce Falun Dafa. The professor asked my husband to let other practitioners know that if they lost their jobs in other departments, he would be happy to hire them in his. His kindness really touched us.

Later, a local practitioner who didn’t work at the school was sentenced to prison and lost his job. His wife, also a practitioner, had been laid off many years ago. With no income and a child in elementary school to support, my husband recommended her to the professor when his department was hiring a contractor. The professor gladly hired her and paid her a good salary.

We gave the professor a copy of the book Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party when it was published in 2004. He was pleased to read it. Later, we also gave him the software to enable him to access websites outside China. He shared the software with others and is now browsing sites daily for uncensored information.
