Additional Persecution News from China – October 11, 2023 (8 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 8 cities or counties in 4 provinces, where at least 17 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Longkou City, Shandong Province] Ms. Wu Jingkun Faces Trial, Mr. Sun Guangjun and Ms. Wang Fengmei Prosecuted

1. [Longkou City, Shandong Province] Ms. Wu Jingkun Faces Trial, Mr. Sun Guangjun and Ms. Wang Fengmei Prosecuted

Ms. Wu Jingkun, originally from Jixi City of Heilongjiang Province, lives in Longkou City. She was arrested on May 9, 2023 and taken to the Fushan Detention Center in Yantai City that day. She appeared to have heart problem and was extremely uncomfortable. She was released on bail on May 23. 

Mr. Sun Guangjun and Ms. Wang Fengmei were also arrested on May 9. They were both released the same day but were put under residential surveillance. 

In the first half of September, cases against the three practitioners were submitted to the Longkou City Procuratorate. The Longkou Court recently notified Ms. Wu Jingkun via telephone that she would be tried on October 17. 

2. [Suizhong County, Liaoning Province] Ms. Tian Liping Likely Arrested

Ms. Tian Liping left home on the morning of October 9, 2023, but did not return by noon. Her family member received a call from an unidentified man. Her family suspected that she was arrested and the police had her cellphone. 

3. [Qingdao City, Shandong Province] Case Against Mr. Jiang Chunlin Submitted to Court

The case against Mr. Jiang Chunlin was submitted to the Shibei District Court. 

4. [Beijing] Five Practitioners Sentenced

The Shunyi District Court sentenced five practitioners to up to seven years on September 27, 2023. Mr. Tan Shouli was sentenced to seven years, Ms. Hu Jinfeng and Ms. Chen Yuying were each sentenced to four years, Ms. Wang Runrong was sentenced to three-and-a-half years, Ms. An Xiurong was sentenced to two years, and Mr. Wu Zhiming was sentenced to one-and-a-half years. The five practitioners are still held in the Shunyi District Detention Center. 

5. [Zibo City, Shandong Province] Ms. Teng Lihua Transferred to Prison

Ms. Teng Lihua was arrested by officers from the Qidu Domestic Security Division and was sentenced to seven months in prison by the Zichuan Court. She appealed the sentencing but her request was denied. She was held in the Zibo Detention Center in late June 2023, and transferred to the Jinan Women’s Prison on September 21. Her family has not heard from her, and they were not able to get any information about her. They were not allowed to visit her in the detention center. They were only notified after she was sent to prison. Her family went to the prison to visit Ms. Teng but they were not allowed to see her.

6. [Jinan City, Shandong Province] Mr. Xu Wanquan Sentenced

Mr. Xu Wanquan was arrested when he distributed Falun Gong informational materials in Lianyungang City, Jiangsu Province. He was sentenced to two years in prison during the first trial. His case was submitted to the Intermediate Court. 

7. [Jidong City, Heilongjiang Province] Three Practitioners Face Trial

The Jidong Court scheduled a trial for Mr. Shi Xiaochun at 9 a.m. on October 11, 2023, and were to try Ma Yunfei at 1:30 p.m. that same day. 

The Mishan Court scheduled a trial for Zhang Yutang at 9 a.m. on October 12, 2023.

8. [Luzhou City, Sichuan Province] Mr. Xia Chenggui Arrested, Ms. Liu Xiaoling and Ms. Li Shigui Detained

Mr. Xia Chenggui and his wife Ms. Liu Xiaoling, and Ms. Li Shigui, in her 70s, live in Jiuzhi Town, Hejiang County. They were arrested in mid August 2023. Mr. Xia was released, while Ms. Liu Xiaoling and Ms. Li Shigui are still detained in the Hejiang Police Station.
