(Minghui.org) The Tian Guo Marching Band was again chosen as the finale during the 55th Kitchener-Waterloo Oktoberfest Thanksgiving Parade on October 9, 2023. Known as one of the largest Thanksgiving parades in Canada, the popular event is broadcast live by CTV.
Thanksgiving is an annual holiday and harvest festival in Canada and is held the second Monday in October. Despite the chilly weather, many people attended the event. When the Tian Guo Marching Band passed them, people took photos and some danced in time to the music. Many people said they’ve seen the Tian Guo Marching Band in the parade for years and were happy to enjoy their outstanding performances again.

The Importance of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance
Maha said he likes the Tian Guo Marching Band’s music.
Local resident Maha listened attentively as the Tian Guo Marching Band warmed up before the parade. He accepted a flyer and was told the band members are Falun Dafa practitioners. He explained that because he grew up in Asia he was interested in practices like Tai Chi and Yoga.
Maha said he’s heard about Falun Dafa and knew it was a meditation system that improves mind and body, but was suppressed by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). He said the CCP wants to control people’s minds and the persecution is ruthless. He said practitioners should be able to freely practice their belief because Falun Dafa is great and shows people how to be good.
Maha explained how to read the three words, Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, in Sanskrit. He said these three words are the most important in this world, but many people do not know it. This society has both good and bad elements. Only through spiritual cultivation can we follow what is good and continue to improve toward higher levels, he added.
Learning the Practice
Harshita danced in time to the Tian Guo Marching Band’s music.
As Harshita videotaped the Tian Guo Marching Band’s performance, she danced in time to the music. She liked the music and it was very refreshing.
When a practitioner gave her a flyer about Falun Dafa, Harshita accepted it and read it. She said meditation was exactly what she needed since she suffered from anxiety. She believed the Falun Dafa exercises would help her relax. She was glad to hear one can learn the exercise online free of charge, and she was interested in learning them.
Moral Foundation
Debbie participates in the parade every year so she’s familiar with the Tian Guo Marching Band. She thanked the practitioner who gave her a flyer about Falun Dafa, and said she and her friends were interested in meditation and spiritual practice. She said the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance are mankind’s moral foundation. Without them, the world would be different.
She said it’s sad that the CCP persecutes such a peaceful group. Debbie said she would visit the Falun Dafa website and read the teachings.
Beautiful Melody
Julia is a social worker and said she played in a marching band years ago. She was very impressed with the Tian Guo Marching Band’s performances and said she liked the music very much.
Upon hearing that the music was composed by Falun Dafa practitioner, Julia was surprised and said she’d like to join the band. She thanked practitioners for traveling from Toronto to participate in the parade.
Local resident Ron
Ron clapped his hands in time to the music and wished practitioners a Happy Thanksgiving. He said he attends the parade every year and the music played by the Tian Guo Marching Band is very beautiful. He also heard other people praising the band. He said the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance are great.
