A Phone Call Stopped Police Harassment

(Minghui.org) The police station and community committee harassed some practitioners in my area around July 20 of this year. One day I realized the couplets which were displayed on my door to my home had disappeared. When I asked the guard about it, he said that a car from the local police station came, went to my door and then left. I knew the police took the couplets.

Two days later, a community grid personnel called and said the police wanted to talk to me. My relatives were visiting, so I said I was busy and I would call him later. He agreed. As soon as my relatives left, I called him and said, “Didn’t you say the police were looking for me? I have something to say to them. Please record what I say on your cell phone and play it back to them.” 

I said that the police were looking for me to talk to me, but I haven’t violated any laws, so they should show me legal documents. Which unit is enforcing what law against me? Show me the police officer’s license and identification number. Second, tell me the legal basis for harassing me.

At this point, the grid personnel interrupted, “They are not trying to enforce any laws, they want to see you.” I said it was okay to visit, but I can accept or reject the visit. If I refuse to see them and they leave, that is visiting. If I refuse to see them and they still forcefully enter my home, they must be enforcing some law so they have to show me the respective documents.

I said that if I broke any laws they had the right to enforce the law, and I also have the legal right to defend myself. If they do not act in accordance with the law but do whatever they like, I have the right to complain, report them, and sue. They may say they are not afraid of my suing them, so what am I afraid of?! What’s wrong with an elderly woman who has done nothing wrong, but wanting to live a peaceful life? 

I said that in a normal society, people only fight when there’s a conflict, and conflicts are resolved. Only in an abnormal society where there are no enemies will people make up enemies to fight; where there are no conflicts people create conflicts to provoke dissatisfaction. Some think they have great power, but power is temporary, justice and conscience are long-lasting. Otherwise, Zhou Yongkang, Bo Xilai and Li Dongsheng wouldn’t be in jail!

I was afraid he hadn’t recorded it, so I asked if he clearly heard what I said. He said yes. I said, “Then tell me what I said.” He replied, “1. They must show you their IDs; 2. Show you the legal basis for harassing you; 3. You can’t be harassed.” I asked him to tell them more details. He said that he would go to the police station and play the recording for them.

They have not returned. The day they came to remove the door couplets, I was inside reading the Fa. They didn’t dare to knock on the door. The must have only torn down the door couplets to be able to report that they fulfilled an assignment. My phone recording for the higher ups finally stopped the harassment.
