Additional Persecution News from China – August 12, 2022 (14 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 13 cities or counties in 9 provinces, where at least 26 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Yancheng City, Jiangsu Province] Ms. Yan Lin Sentenced to Three Years in Prison; Ms. Ni Xiangzhen Detained

Ms. Yan Lin from the Yandu District was arrested by officers from the Yandu Police Department for using a paper bill imprinted with Falun Gong facts. Ms. Ni Xiangzhen was arrested at the same time. Ms. Yan Lin was sentenced to three years in prison by the Dafeng District Court in late July 2022. The two practitioners are currently detained in the Dafeng Detention Center.

2. [Nanchang City, Jiangxi Province] Mr. Wang Fuming Arrested

University graduates Mr. Wang Fuming was arrested by police in Gaoxin District around August 6, 2022, for distributing truth-clarifying materials.

3. [Xinyang City, Henan Province] Ms. Li Dianqiu Harassed and Passed Away

Ms. Li Dianqiu from Huangchuan County, 79, was arrested in December 2021 for distributing information about Falun Gong. Her home was ransacked. She was later released because of her health. She had been harassed constantly since then by police and local community staff members. Three days before she passed away on August 5, 2022, she received a phone call asking for two photos of her.

4. [Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Li Xiujie Arrested

Ms. Li Xiujie from the Moyatai Village in Liaotun Town has been on bail pending trial. She stayed away from her home but recently returned. Officers from the Liaotun Town Police Station kept harassing her family for more than a year. They arrested Ms. Li on the morning of August 9, 2022, and took her to have a physical examination. She was released later that day because of the examination results.

5. [Benxi City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Wu Chengjun Sentenced to Eight Years in Prison

Mr. Wu Chengjun was arrested by police in Benxi City on October 15, 2020, and was detained in the Liaoyang City Detention Center. He was tried by the Huanren County Court on July 21, 2021, and was sentenced to eight years in prison and fined 50,000 yuan on December 1, 2021. He appealed to the Benxi Intermediate Court but the original verdict was upheld.

Mr. Wu was taken to the No.8 Ward of Panjin Prison on June 18, 2022, and was later transferred to No.22 Ward on July 25, 2022. His family has not been allowed to visit him since he was taken to prison.

6. [Hanzhong City, Shaanxi Province] Ms. Sun Jie Harassed

Ms. Sun Jie’s home was searched while no one was at home around July 25, 2022. The lock was broken by force and her media player was taken away. A few of the pages in her address book which contained other practitioners’ contact information were torn out and taken.

7. [Weifang City, Shandong Province] Mr. Ma Lichun Arrested and Detained

Mr. Ma Lichun lives in Zhonghexia Village, Jiulong Sub-district, Fangzi District. He was arrested at home on the afternoon of July 8, 2022. He was detained for seven days in the Jiangjia Brainwashing Center and was then transferred to the Weifang Detention House. He was detained for 12 days in the detention house and was released on July 27, 2022.

8. [Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Wu Baogui Detained

Mr. Wu Baogui is detained in the No.1 Prison in Shenyang City. He was scheduled to be released on August 18, 2022.

9. [Qingyun County, Shandong Province] Mr. Shi Biao Arrested and Detained

Mr. Shi Biao was arrested and detained in the Dezhou Detention House on July 21, 2022. His home was ransacked and more than 40 Falun Gong books and a cell phone were confiscated. He did not cooperate with the police. He was detained for 14 days and was released on August 4, 2022.

10. [Daqing City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Zhang Fengxia Arrested

Ms. Zhang Fengxia was arrested at home by several plainclothes officers in the early morning hours of July 12, 2022. Her home was ransacked. The police confiscated Falun Gong books, a photo of Falun Gong’s founder, and her computer. Ms. Zhang and her husband were taken to the Huizhan District Police Department. She was pressured to sign a guarantee statement. Ms. Zhang was released that afternoon.

11. [Cangxi County, Sichuan Province] Ms. Shao Jun and Ms. Yang Shixuan Arrested

Ms. Shao Jun and Ms. Yang Shixuan were reported to police for talking about Falun Gong to students and were arrested by officers from the Lingjiang Police Station on July 15, 2022. The police searched her daughter’s home but did not find anything they were looking for. Both practitioners were released that afternoon.

Ms. Yang Shixuan’s husband was pressured by officers from the Lingjiang Police Station to sign the arrest notice on July 31, 2022. Ms. Yang left home to avoid further persecution after her husband notified her.

12. [Quanzhou City, Fujian Province] More Than 20 Practitioners Arrested

More than 20 practitioners in Xiamen City, Longyan City, and Quanzhou City were arrested from June 18-20, 2022.

Wang Qingwen and Ms. Liao Cuihong from Hui’an County were arrested on June 18, 2022. Wang Qingwen was released three days later. Ms. Liao Cuihong was placed under official arrest because two boxes of truth-clarifying materials were found in her home.

Kindergarten teacher Ms. Zhuang Yurong, 56, and Peng Hanyu were also placed under official arrest and were detained.

Seven practitioners including Huang Yongbin, Huang Huaqiong, Wang Chunying, Lian Qingshui, Lin Yongchuan, Chen Burong and Wu Huibin, were released on July 20, 2022. Lin Peisheng was also released afterward.

13. [Shouguang City, Shandong Province] Ms. Guo Guangjun Harassed

Multiple officers from the Yangkou Town Police Station went to Ms. Guo Guangjun’s home recently. They photographed and videotaped her home and confiscated several Falun Gong books, some desk calendars, and a few media players.

14. [Fangzheng County, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Li Huaqin Arrested

Ms. Li Huaqin from the Fangzheng Forestry Bureau of Heilongjiang Province was traveling to visit her sick relative on August 7, 2022. She was intercepted at the Gaoleng High-Speed Train Station and was taken back. Her home was ransacked. She was released that evening.
