(Minghui.org) While serving a 3.5-year prison term for practicing Falun Gong, a Changchun City, Jilin Province resident was shocked with an electric baton in the anus, hit on the legs, back, and hips with steel rulers and then had the wounds all over his body rubbed with salt by the guards.
Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Mr. Yu Chunbo was arrested on November 12, 2020 and sentenced to 3.5 years at the Gongzhuling Prison around December 2021. His wife, Ms. Li Fengxia, who doesn’t practice Falun Gong, was also persecuted and given 15 months.
Mr. Yu’s family recently learned from an insider about the appalling torture he suffered for not renouncing Falun Gong.
According to the insider, guards Shen Xudong and Zhao Xu, as well as inmates Ma Tao and Li Jianyang, slapped Mr. Yu in the face 90 times on February 24, 2022. They shocked him in the anus with an electric baton and struck his thighs, calves, back and buttocks with steel rulers. They next rubbed salt into the wounds, before resuming the beating, followed by the salt again. The torture lasted two hours.
The perpetrators brought Mr. Yu back to the guards’ office on the second and third day. They scraped off the scabs with the steel rulers, and then repeated the beating, salt and electric shocks. The torture lasted two hours for both days.
On the fifth day, the guards tortured Mr. Yu again. After he had a heart attack during electric shocks, the guards gave him some quick-acting heart medication they had prepared.
After that, Mr. Yu was forced to stand for at least 15 hours every day and given very little food for each meal. He was severely malnourished and had gastric perforation. He was then hospitalized for 27 days.
Mr. Yu was taken to a local hospital for resuscitation on April 18, 2022. Details about that episode remain unclear.
Mr. Yu is currently held at the Second Ward and subjected to brainwashing every day by Liu Dapeng, a former practitioner who was sentenced to three years but had been transformed and now assists the authorities in the persecution.
Prior to the latest sentencing, Mr. Yu was previously arrested in 2000 and given two years at the Chaoyanggou Forced Labor Camp.
While he was serving time, his younger brother, Mr. Yu Chunhai, was also arrested for practicing Falun Gong and incarcerated at the same labor camp. The torture and intensive labor took a toll on the younger Mr. Yu’s health. He struggled with poor health for three years after his release and passed away on January 21, 2007, at the age of 32.
