(Minghui.org) A 45-year-old woman and her 71-year-old mother were recently sentenced to eight and four years, respectively, for their faith in Falun Gong.
Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
More than ten plainclothes officers broke into Ms. Zhu Enhua’s home in Qujing City, Yunnan Province, on October 3, 2021, after deceiving her into opening the door by pretending to be interested in her rental property. One officer held Ms. Zhu’s arms behind her back and the others began to ransack her five-story apartment building. They searched every room for Falun Gong materials, including inside the pillows and comforters.
When the police left, they sealed the fourth and fifth floors of the building. No list of confiscated items was provided. Ms. Zhu, her mother Ms. Yang Shuzhen, and her father Mr. Zhu Junjian, 75, were all taken to the Baijiang Detention Center. Although the father was released two days later, the mother and daughter remain in custody. Ms. Zhu is being held in the Luoping County Detention Center and Ms. Yang in Huize County Detention Center.
The Qujing City Court sentenced Ms. Zhu to eight years and Ms. Yang to four years in March 2022. Both of them have appealed the verdicts.
Prior to Ms. Zhu’s latest sentencing, she was arrested on April 12, 2010, while visiting another practitioner Ms. Wang Shulan. The police were ransacking Ms. Wang’s home when Ms. Zhu arrived. After finding Falun Gong materials in Ms. Zhu’s purse, the police also went to her home and ransacked her residence. She was later sentenced to four years by the Kunming City Court.
