What Mentality Should We Have When Viewing the COVID Pandemic?

(Minghui.org) Many Chinese people have been sneering at the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) for enforcing the “Zero-COVID” strategy, including some fellow practitioners. I feel that this may not be the right mentality for us to have.

For example, some practitioners enjoyed talking about which cities have been locked down recently, how many people have been infected or died, and how much fake propaganda the CCP has created recently. Some said, “The CCP is in real trouble now. You think you can defeat Heaven? Let’s see how you do it.”

Some practitioners became a bit irrational. For instance, a practitioner re-posted videos ridiculing the CCP for causing the humanitarian crises in China. The police came to warn her, “Watch out on your WeChat [a popular Chinese social media platform]. What are you posting there?”

I feel that we practitioners should not have a sarcastic attitude toward the CCP or gloat at its self-induced social crises in China. Instead, we should view the suffering of the Chinese people from the perspective of a divine being. This pandemic is a disaster brought about by the CCP’s atheism. It makes people suffer, especially those who, under the CCP’s strict lockdown measures, might not even know if they will survive the next day. Everything--from food shortages to the lack of or no medical attention, businesses failing, overdue mortgage and car loan payments--are like heavy mountains on their shoulders.

As Dafa practitioners, we should have sympathy and compassion for people under draconian lockdowns. 

With a schadenfreude mentality, we cannot save people. People may develop negative feelings towards us and Dafa; thus we are pushing them away and may even push them to be destroyed.

Our mentality towards the pandemic reflects our cultivation level to a certain extent. Every person comes to the world for the Fa. Teacher extends the Fa-rectification duration, not only to wait for those Dafa practitioners who have not cultivated themselves well to catch up but also to wait for more sentient beings to be saved. Teacher cherishes every sentient being. He reminds Dafa disciples to rush to save people in almost every Fa lecture. Now it is time for us to hurry up to save people! 

Teacher said, 

“Since you’re Dafa disciples, you shouldn’t put your hopes in so-called “natural” changes, external changes, changes in the ordinary society, or in some favors that someone might do for us. You are divine beings, and you are the future rulers of different cosmoses, so who would you count on? All the beings are counting on you! (Applause) That’s truly how it is. The cosmos’s reality will manifest in the near future, and at that time whether we have done well or poorly will be set—however things went will be set. As long as this affair hasn’t ended there’s still an opportunity. Each one of us is walking his own path, and consummating his own Attainment Status.” (“Fa Teaching Given at the 2002 Conference in Philadelphia, U.S.A.,” Collected Teachings Given Around the World, Volume II)

Our cultivation path is narrow. Any deviation from the righteous path can lead to regret. The closer to the end, the more important it is for us to walk stably and righteously.
