Henan Man Detained Incommunicado for Practicing Falun Gong That Cured His Late-stage Lung Cancer

(Minghui.org) A 68-year-old Nanyang City, Henan Province resident has been detained incommunicado since his arrest on March 2, 2022, for practicing Falun Gong. His family is very worried about him.

Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.

Taking Up Falun Gong

In his 40s, Mr. Liu Yanqi was found to have late-stage lung cancer. His doctor predicted that he only had three months left. To seek treatment, he sold his hotel and stayed in the hospital for months. He returned home after spending all the money, but without much improvement.

In 2005, a friend recommended Falun Gong to him. With no other hope, he decided to give it a try. He began to read Zhuan Falun, the main text of Falun Gong. Shortly after, he began to make quick progress every day and he was cancer-free three months later.

Grateful to Falun Gong for saving his life, Mr. Liu practices Falun Gong diligently and lives by its principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance. He found a bag of 20,000 yuan on the street around 2007. He posted notes around town, looking for the owner. The security guard in his neighborhood also helped ask around who lost the money. Some neighbors said it’s so rare for people who found lost money not to keep it for themselves. There were also people who called him and claimed that they lost the money. But none of them could tell the correct amount of money lost.

Two days later, the real owner called Mr. Liu. The rightful owner was a restaurant owner and the money was the debt he just collected. He didn’t expect to get the money back but was surprisingly happy after talking to Mr. Liu. He offered him 2,000 yuan as a token of appreciation, but Mr. Liu kindly declined.

Arbitrary Arrest and Incommunicado Detention

Mr. Liu was arrested at home on March 2, 2022, by officers from the Jianxi Police Station. They confiscated his Falun Gong books and a photo of Falun Gong’s founder.

His family went to the police station the next morning, demanding the of return of the confiscated landline phone. The police turned them down and also refused to reveal where Mr. Liu was detained.

The police returned to Mr. Liu’s home in the afternoon for a second raid. His family was so terrified that they couldn’t eat and were extremely nervous.

According to information collected by Minghui, nearly 500 Falun Gong practitioners in Henan were targeted for their faith in 2021. Among them, 5 died as a result, 90 were sentenced, 237 were arrested, 95 were harassed and 3 were taken to a brainwashing center. Due to the strict information censorship by the communist regime, the actual persecution is believed to be more severe.
