Additional Persecution News from China – January 24, 2022 (16 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 15 cities or counties in 11 provinces, where at least 28 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Mudanjiang City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Wang Meihong Held in Prison Training Team

Ms. Wang Meihong, 65, of Mudanjiang City was arrested near the Heilongjiang University bookstore in Harbin City by Daoli District officers in Harbin City on November 23, 2020. The Daoli District Court sentenced her to four years in prison and fined her 20,000 yuan. She was admitted to the Heilongjiang Women’s Prison in early June 2021. She was held in a prison training team. The team is called a prison inside a prison, a cell inside a cell. The inmates held there are treated much worse than others and are not allow to talk to their families.

2. [Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province] Practitioners Arrested in Preparation for the Winter Olympics

Chongli District will host major skiing events during the 2022 Winter Olympics. Ms. Bai Mei, Ms. Qin Yulan, Wei Jiansheng (gender unknown), and several practitioners were arrested by Domestic Security Division officers on January 21, 2022. Their homes were ransacked. The whereabouts of these four practitioners are unknown.

3. [Chifeng City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region] Ms. Zhang Fengyun Dies Trying to Avoid Persecution

Ms. Zhang Fengyun’s home was ransacked on September 25, 2018, because her daughter, Ms. Song Sijuan signed up for US New Tang Dynasty Television International Chinese Vocal Competition. Officers from the Chifeng Police Department, the Yuanbaoshan District Police Department, and the Yuanbaoshan Police Station, including Wang Jianfeng from the police station, seized her computers, printers, Falun Gong books, pictures of Falun Gong’s founder, deeds, household registration, band deposit worth 200,000 yuan, her daughter’s US visa application documents, and other items.

Her husband, Mr. Song Xiandong, was arrested. He was sentenced to ten months in prison by the Yuanbaoshan Court and incarcerated in the Chifeng No. 4 Prison.

She and her daughter were spared because they were not at home, but they were put on the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP’s) wanted list. They fled home. Ms. Zhang’s retirement account was frozen and they had no income.

She died around December 15, 2021, while she was moving around from place to place to avoid being persecuted.

4. [Panjin City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Zhao Yanrong and Liu Arrested

Liu, first name and gender unknown, of Zhuanjing Primary School was arrested on January 22, 2022.

Ms. Zhao Yanrong of Xinglongtai District was arrested on January 23, 2022. Her home was ransacked.

5. [Heyuan City, Guangdong Province] Mr. Wang Boming Sentenced

Mr. Wang Boming was sentenced in November 2021.

6. [Hebei City, Anhui Province] Ms. Zhang Ling Released on Bail, Ms. Li Caixia Formally Arrested

Ms. Zhang Ling was released on bail in early December 2021, while Ms. Li Caixia was formally arrested. They were arrested by Jinxiu Police Station officers on the evening of November 2, 2021.

7. [Changsha City, Hunan Province] Mr. Sun Yushan Missing

Mr. Sun Yushan, 24, has been missing since the evening of January 20, 2022. A picture of the founder of Falun Gong and more than 40 Falun Gong books are missing from his home.

8. [Xiangtan County, Hunan Province] Yan Chengying and Mr. Liu Heqing Harassed

Yan Chengying, gender unknown, and Mr. Liu Heqing were harassed at home by Xiangtan County Prevention Office, formally known as the 610 Office, director Zhang Hong and agent Cui Junyi on January 9, 2022. They photographed Mr. Liu against his will and ordered him to sign a paper renouncing Falun Gong. He refused.

9. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Ms. Hu Yaping Harassed

Ms. Hu Yaping was arrested by Wangsongyuan Police Station officers last October. She talked to a young man while she was eating in a small cafe on October 12, 2021. She said that sincerely reciting “Falun Dafa is Good, Truthfulness-Benevolence-Forbearance is Good” helped people keep safe during the pandemic. The man reported her. She was later released on bail.

The clerks in her community harassed her at home in early January 2022 and claimed they would knock on her door every day.

10. [Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Li Weixin Arrested

Ms. Li Weixin, 84, was arrested in practitioner Kang’s home by Taihe Domestic Security Division officers on November 27, 2021. She was released the same day because she did not pass the physical exam.

According to current data, 19 practitioners and their family members were arrested within 23 days, between November 27 and December 23, 2021, by Taihe Domestic Security Division head Liu Changjie, Li Lei, and others.

11. [Taonan City, Jilin Province] Mr. Chen Liguo Arrested

Mr. Chen Liguo was arrested by Taonan City Police Department plainclothes officers on April 14, 2021.

12. [Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province] Three Practitioners Detained

Kang Cuiqing (gender unknown), Wei Jiansheng (gender unknown), and Ms. Qin Yulan were arrested by Chongli District Police Station officers at midnight on January 21, 2022. Their homes were ransacked. They were each subjected to 15 days detention and admitted to the Zhangjiakou City Detention Center on January 22, 2022.

13. [Yinchuan City, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region] Ms. Li Shuxia and Her Son Arrested

Ms. Li Shuxia was reported when she distributed Falun Gong pamphlets on the afternoon of December 9, 2021.

Three Changchenglu Police Station officers went to her home on the afternoon of December 11, and ordered her to hand over her pamphlets. She refused. Her son was threatened and became frightened. He took out the pamphlets from her bag and handed them to the officers. She and her son were taken to the police station. The officers questioned her for the source of the pamphlets and who her contacts were. She refused to answer. The officers wrote down the process and forced her to sign it. She and her son were released.

14. [Nongan County, Jilin Province] Mr. Zhang Jing and Mr. Shan Weihe Abused in Prison

Mr. Zhang Jing and Mr. Shan Weihe were taken to the Gongzhuling Prison from the Nongan Detention Center on January 6, 2022. They are being held and brainwashed in the newcomers ward – the 9th ward. They are denied family visits or the ability to purchase daily necessities.

15. [Jinan City, Shandong Province] Ms. Liu Binghuan’s Home Ransacked

Ms. Liu Binghuan’s home was ransacked in mid-January 2022. Police seized her properties and released her for one year on bail. She is forced to turn off her cell phone and has no contact with anyone outside her home.

16. [Xianning City, Hubei Province] Mr. Liu Haiquan Detained

Mr. Liu Haiquan is being held in the Jiayu County Detention Center.
