Additional Persecution News from China – January 12, 2022 (15 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 14 cities or counties in 7 provinces, where at least 35 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Weifang City, Shandong Province] Ms. Yan Xiling Sentenced to Five Years in Prison

Ms. Yan Xiling from Qingzhou City was arrested by officers from the Qingzhou Domestic Security Division in June 2021. She went on a hunger strike in the detention center for more than a month. She was in critical condition when she returned home. After she recovered Ms. Yan was again taken to the detention center, where she protested the persecution by going on a hunger strike. In November 2021, she was tried by the Qingzhou Court. She was sentenced to five years in prison and was to serve her term outside the prison.

2. [Qingdao City, Shandong Province] Ms. Hou Baoqin Sentenced to Prison

Ms. Hou Baoqin was sentenced to two years and two months in prison at the end of 2021.

3. [Shenze County, Hebei Province] Nine Practitioners Arrested

At 12 a.m. on January 10, 2022, a large number of police officers was dispatched from the Shenze County Police Department and they arrested nine Falun Gong practitioners. The practitioners are Huixin, Yingjuan, Qin Ru, Erli, Guofang, Yaqin, Yaqin’s spouse, Ma Tongxin, and He Liuling. The officers also ransacked the practitioners’ homes.

4. [Tangshan City, Hebei Province] Ms. Liu Xiurong Fined 2,000 Yuan

Ms. Liu Xiurong from Guye District was arrested on August 19, 2019. The Luannan County Court was scheduled to hear her case on April 7, 2020. Ms. Liu did not go to the court that day and was fined 2,000 yuan.

5. [Tongliao City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region] Mr. Han Naijun and His Wife Ms. Zhang Yanmei Missing

In recent days people lost contact with Mr. Han Naijun and his wife Ms. Zhang Yanmei. The electric bicycles they use every day are missing. It is suspected that the police arrested the couple.

6. [Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province] Elderly Ms. Yang Fengying Arrested

Elderly Ms. Yang Fengying and her husband from the Binhai New Area went out for a walk after lunch on January 9, 2022. By 4 p.m. their family noticed that they had not returned home. When their family members went to the Tianqiao Police Station they were told that Domestic Security officer Li took the elderly couple to Jinzhou City for a physical examination.

At noon on January 10, a man and a woman went to the practitioners’ home and asked the family members to sign a detention form. The couple’s family members refused to sign it.

Ms. Yang was previously arrested at home in November 2019 and held in custody for eight months.

7. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Feng Jimei Remains in Custody

Ms. Feng Jimei was arrested at home by officers from the Kunming Street Police Station, Zhongshan District, in October 2020. Her home was ransacked. She has been held in the Yaojia Detention Center for over a year. Family visits have been denied.

8. [Jinan City, Shandong Province] Mr. Zhou Lei Arrested

Mr. Zhou Lei from Shizhong District walked out of the residential community to go to work around 7 a.m. on December 30, 2021. When he was walking to his car, four police officers from the Erqi New Village Police Station who were waiting nearby arrested him. The officers then ransacked his home and took him to the police station.

In the police station, the officers mentioned seven or eight fellow practitioners’ names and asked Mr. Zhou if he knew them. Mr. Zhou refused to answer their questions, did not sign anything, and instead clarified the truth to them. He returned home safely after being held for 24 hours.

9. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Mr. Tao Hongxue Arrested

Mr. Tao Hongxue from Qixing Garden, Gongren Village, Qingshan District, was arrested by local State Security officers on January 7, 2022.

10. [Daqing City, Heilongjiang Province] Sun Wenzhong Arrested

Sun Wenzhong (gender unknown) from Daqing New Residential Quarters was arrested at home on the afternoon of January 8, 2022, by officers from the Lindian County Police Department and the Sartu District Police Department. The officers confiscated a computer and a printer, among other items. Sun is being held in the Taikang County Detention Center.

11. [Changyi City, Shandong Province] Ms. Li Meiyu and Daughter Displaced; Husband Held in Custody

Wang Yiqiang and others from the Changyi City Domestic Security Division and two officers from the Yinma Police Station broke into Ms. Li Meiyu’s home and arrested her on October 25, 2021. Ms. Li was not at home. These people tried to arrest her daughter Ms. Chen Jiajia instead. Ms. Chen escaped while her father Mr. Chen Xiangming confronted the officers to prevent them from arresting her.

Wang Yiqiang also instructed the officers to ransack the place and confiscated personal items worth several thousand yuan, including Falun Dafa books, computers, and cell phones. They took Mr. Chen to the police station on the grounds of “obstructing official duties.” Mr. Chen was then taken to Changyi City and held for 24 hours.

The next day, officers from the police station broke into Ms. Li’s home and harassed her. Ms. Li and her daughter have since been left home to avoid harassment.

12. [Tianjin] Numerous Practitioners Arrested

On January 8, 2022, officers from the Ninghe District Domestic Security Division, the Ninghe District Police Department, and various police stations jointly dispatched officers to arrest practitioners Han Suyun, Yang Fujing, Du Yanhong, Yu Wenxiu, Mo Weiqiu, and Qi Yuying, among others. Some practitioners’ homes were ransacked. It was reported that Mo Weiqiu and Yu Wenxiu were released the following day.

13. [Panjin City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Zhou Shaotang Sentenced to Prison

Mr. Zhou Shaotang, 84, from Yintun Village, Dongguo Town, Panshan County, was tried twice at home in December 2021. He was sentenced to one year in prison, to be served at home.

14. [Heyuan City, Guangdong Province] Ms. Yuan Qunrui Arrested

On the afternoon of December 31, 2021, more than twelve people from the Yuancheng District Political and Legal Affairs Committee and the Yuanxi Police Station went to Ms. Yuan Qunrui’s home and ransacked the place. They confiscated photos of the founder of Falun Gong, several amulets, and 1,000 yuan in cash. They handcuffed Ms. Yuan, took her to the police station, and tried to force her to sign a document stating she would “not go out to distribute Falun Gong materials.” She refused. Three officers grabbed her hands and pressed her fingerprints to the document. They took her home at 8 p.m. that night.

Huang Yuying, Ou Mingxia, Li Qingmei, and Deng Shi’e were also harassed at their homes by the officers on the same day.

15. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Zhang Yun Taken to Prison

Ms. Zhang Yun, 76, was taken to the New Inmates Ward in the Liaoning Province No. 2 Women’s Prison on December 21, 2021. She was denied family visits and phone calls. Her family was not allowed to make deposits into her account.

After she was transferred to the regular ward one month later, her family was allowed to make deposits.
