Cultivating Well to Fulfill My Vows

(Minghui.org) I quit my career job a few years ago so I could print truth-clarifying materials and go out to talk to people about Falun Dafa. My son followed me and practiced Dafa with me when he was young. As he got older, he slacked off in his cultivation, but he fully supports my efforts.

Despite the financial demands of starting a family and buying a house, he understood my desire to quit my job, as helping Master Li (Falun Dafa's founder) save sentient beings is more important. Since then, benevolent Master has been looking after my son, helping him overcome two great physical tribulations. When our minds are on the Fa, Master arranges many things for us.

Distributing Materials During the Pandemic

Our city went into lock down on the 6th day of the 2020 Chinese New Year. As a result, it was hard to meet people on the street to clarify the truth to. So, producing and distributing materials became my main focus. I could easily enter other areas to distribute the materials and meet fellow practitioners with my access pass. When I met practitioner Wen, I discovered that she too used her access pass to enter other areas. We both smiled knowingly.

It wasn’t long before things changed however. Only one entry was allowed per day, and the access passes for each area were different, so we couldn’t get around easily. As I was walking down the street one day, feeling sad about not being able to enter other areas, I met a practitioner returning home from work in the government sector. He said that even smaller districts were being locked down, and he had no way to get materials, so I gave him some of mine.

A few days later, this practitioner gave me a pandemic staff pass. With this, I was able to enter other areas. In order to get the most out of it, I went to practitioner Wen’s house, and we took turns using the pass to distribute large amounts of materials across many districts. Wen said the pass was bestowed to us by Master. When we put in our hearts into doing things to save people, Master will arrange the best for us.

Clarifying the Truth Face-to-Face

In order to help out with the finances at home, I found a job tutoring students with their homework. Although my former job wasn’t related to education, the wisdom that I had obtained through cultivation allowed me to do the job with ease, and the students liked my classes. The work hours were flexible, and it didn’t affect my going out to clarify the truth. Many practitioners chose jobs that had relatively flexible working hours. Although the salaries were lower, fulfilling our vows was more important.

I lost my job, however, after I clarified the truth to two students. I later passed the interview for another relatively large tutoring center. However, they used a WeChat management system to communicate with the parents. I was aware that WeChat had security issues for practitioners, so I gave up the job. The boss of the center couldn’t understand why I wouldn’t use the application and expressed regret when I resigned.

I now work for a smaller tutoring center that doesn’t require the use of WeChat. During the pandemic, I clarified the truth to the boss and helped him quit the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) organizations. I also reached out to some of the students. One of them suffered from serious gastric problems and often had to miss class. I clarified the truth to him and helped him quit the Party. I also suggested he silently recite the auspicious phrase “Falun Dafa is good!, Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good!” whenever his illness flared up.

One day, he confided, “Teacher, this is so miraculous. My stomach hurt badly again when I attended class today, so I recited those words in my mind. My stomach then gradually stopped hurting. This method is really effective!” I told him that this is the power of the Buddha Fa. He later told me that not only did his stomach stop hurting, but he also gained wisdom after reciting the words. There were many things in the syllabus that he previously didn’t understand but now he could. Afterward, he often asked me questions about the mysteries of life and the universe.

I then clarified the truth to the other students when their class graduated, and this student shouted out, “I’ve already benefited from Dafa. I recited the auspicious phrase until I recovered from my gastric illnesses.” Those classmates were also thankful. I felt gratified that although the class was small and I didn’t earn much, I did what I needed to do.

Walking to Work to Clarify the Truth

My house is quite far from the tutoring center, and it would often take me two hours to walk to work. I could have taken the bus, but I chose to walk so I could clarify the truth to people along the way. I tried my best to talk to every person I met and would give them truth-clarifying materials. During this process, there were many experiences which deeply touched me.

I went to chat with a man and woman farming outside the school. The woman was excited when I gave her an amulet. She said, “You’re really my true sister. Thank you, true sister!”

I told her that Dafa’s Master asked us to help save people, and she should try reciting, “Falun Dafa is good! Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good!” that was written on the amulet so as to avoid disasters and stay safe. She agreed. After I turned and walked away, I could hear her repeating the auspicious words.

I chatted with a man on a bench who was reading a book on his cell phone. I clarified the truth to him. Initially, he didn’t agree with what I said, “I’m an engineer. I only believe in science, not the things you talk about.”

I continued, “You can’t see the signals that are being sent to your phone, but you receive them. The Earth rotates even though no one turns it. There are many things that science can’t explain.” He started to think about what I said, but still didn’t want to quit the Party.

“I am full of respect for Falun Dafa practitioners like you when I see you tirelessly talking to people [about Dafa]. Just don’t waste your time here. Look for others to talk to. Go now, quickly.” I had no choice but to leave, thinking that this man still had a conscience. Why didn't he want to quit the CCP? “Master please save him!”

I then took out a USB flash drive from my pocket and told him, “This contains many videos that speak the truth. Do take a good look at them. You’re a good person. Maybe my explanations are not clear enough, but you will understand when you watch these videos.” He accepted the flash drive and read aloud the words written on it, “What People Have Waited For For Thousands of Years, Whoever Obtains This Is Very Lucky.”

The practitioner who made the flash drive really put their heart into making it. The flash drive was in a small self-sealing bag with a meticulously produced explanation booklet. Two lines were inscribed on the cover of the booklet, and below that was a drawing of a beautiful lotus flower.

After the man read the two lines twice, his attitude completely changed. He said excitedly, “What people have waited for for thousands of years. Okay, I quit. I’ll watch everything on the flash drive. Thank you!” Tears welled up in my eyes. Maybe the phrase ‘What people have waited for for thousands of years triggered his knowing side.

On another occasion, I was walking home after a class and saw an elderly man sitting outside his front door. I went over to greet him and spoke to him about Dafa. He said that he had been working under the communist regime his whole life and was very clear about the Party’s evil nature. He readily agreed to quit the Party’s organizations. I gave him a small bag of materials containing the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party, a truth-clarifying booklet, and an amulet. He stood up, and said, “You’ve given me such a precious gift. How can I ever thank you? Let me treat you to a drink.”

“No need!” I replied, “Your understanding is my greatest joy.” After walking quite a distance, I turned back and saw he was still standing there seeing me off.

When my thoughts are on the Fa, the wisdom needed to save sentient beings keeps flowing into my mind. However, when my thoughts are overridden with all sorts of attachments, my will to save people is obstructed. Although I’ve tried to let go of my attachments to reputation, personal gain, and my love for my son, there were still times I couldn’t do it.

Thought karma also creates disturbances and reflects bad thoughts into my mind, preventing me from doing my best. My life is meant for the Fa, so I can’t let these matters hinder me. I must study the Fa a lot with full concentration and a solemn mindset; I must also send forth righteous thoughts to eliminate all interference.

I will strive to improve in my cultivation so that I can fulfill my vows and follow Master home.
