(Minghui.org) A Qinhuangdao City, Hebei Province, resident stood trial on December 9, 2022, for her faith in Falun Gong. Ms. Zhang Hui recounted how her severe uterus condition disappeared and she successfully conceived after practicing Falun Gong for 38 days. She demanded the judge rule the case according to his conscience and acquit her.

Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.

Ms. Zhang was arrested on March 2, 2022, after being reported by an officer for distributing Falun Gong materials in the subdivision he was managing. The police initially gave her ten days at the Qinhuangdao City Lockup. When her family came to pick her up on March 12, the police claimed that her case had been elevated to a criminal case and they needed to transfer her to the local detention center.

During the physical exam, Ms. Zhang was found to have uterine fibroids and ovarian cysts. The detention center refused to admit her and she was released under house arrest the same day.

As Ms. Zhang’s husband was working out of town and their 11-year-old son was at home by himself, the police forced her to cooperate with the home ransacking, threatening to torment her son if they had to use force. Ms. Zhang was still held at the police station during the raid in the evening, so a relative went to her home and opened the door for the police.

While the police searched Ms. Zhang’s home in front of the relative, they refused to provide a confiscation list or go over the items with her. They claimed that they took away 47 copies of Falun Gong magazines from Ms. Zhang.

Four months later, the police ordered Ms. Zhang to sign the confiscation list, with the excuse that they needed to add the name of a police officer. When Ms. Zhang refused, the police found her relative and forced her to sign the document.

During Ms. Zhang’s house arrest, the police kept harassing her and ordered her to renounce Falun Gong. She insisted that she didn’t do anything wrong in upholding her faith.

Meanwhile, the police fabricated evidence against Ms. Zhang and exaggerated the charge against her by claiming that she downloaded the Falun Gong materials from the Internet and printed them at home.

Ms. Zhang appeared in the Funing District Court on December 9. The presiding judge was Lin Shuangquan and court clerk was Xiong Zihui. The prosecutor who attended the session was Zou Sumin. Ms. Zhang’s lawyer entered a not guilty plea for her. He argued that no law has ever criminalized Falun Gong in China and that the prosecutor failed to explain how Ms. Zhang “undermined law enforcement with a cult organization.”

During Ms. Zhang’s self defense, she said that two years after she got married, she was unable to conceive. The hospital check-up revealed that she had endometriosis, where abnormal tissue grows outside of the uterus. The doctor said it was impossible for her to become pregnant and also suggested removal of her uterus.

Ms. Zhang said being a young woman at the time, she didn’t want to give up so easily, so she began to receive some treatment of traditional Chinese medicine, but still to no avail. By chance, she was introduced to Falun Gong and only 38 days later, she was pregnant. She gave birth to a boy at the end of 2009. She said she had benefitted so much from Falun Gong, she hoped other people can also know its beauty and benefit from it as well.

Prosecutor Zou recommended a six-month sentence and 1,200-yuan fine against Ms. Zhang. The judge said he would make a decision after discussing the case with the collegiate panel.
