Current Status of the Nine Fuyang City, Anhui Province, Residents Who Were Sentenced for Their Faith

(Minghui.org) Nine residents of Fuyang City, Anhui Province, were sentenced to prison on February 3, 2021, for practicing Falun Gong. Three of them have been released after serving their terms; five of them are still serving time in two different prisons; and the remaining practitioner is being held in a detention center.

Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.

The nine practitioners were arrested on June 12 and July 22, 2020. Many of their Falun Gong informational materials and the supplies they used to print the materials were confiscated. They were tried and convicted in the Linquan County Court on February 3, 2021.

Ms. Wang Cuilan was sentenced to 10 years and fined 50,000 yuan.Ms. Wang Lanying was sentenced to 4 years and 10 months and fined 20,000 yuan.Mr. Yu Zuzhi was sentenced to 4 years and fined 10,000 yuan.Ms. Wang Cuiping was sentenced to 3 years and fined 10,000 yuan.Ms. Wang Mingzhi was sentenced to 1.5 years and fined 10,000 yuan.Mr. Li Haitao was sentenced to 3 years and fined 10,000 yuan.Mr. Li Chunmin was sentenced to 2.5 years and fined 10,000 yuan.Mr. Sun Chuanfu was sentenced to 1 year and fined 10,000 yuan.Mr. Sun Yuhe was sentenced to 8 months and fined 3,000 yuan.

Ms. Wang Cuilan, Ms. Wang Lanying, and Ms. Wang Cuiping were taken to the Anhui Province Women’s Prison on June 15, 2022. Mr. Li Haitao and Mr. Li Chunmin were taken to Suzhou Prison on June 15 and 29, 2022, respectively.

Mr. Yu, 75, was denied admission to the local detention center due to his health and advanced age. He was initially released to serve his time at home on February 8, 2021, but the police took him back into custody on September 9, 2022, and held him at the Linquan County Detention Center.

Mr. Sun Yuhe was released on February 11, 2021; Mr. Sun Chuanfu was released on June 11, 2021; and Ms. Wang Mingzhi was released on December 12, 2021.
