Former Chinese Teacher Detained for Five Months and Counting for Sending Texts about Falun Gong

(Minghui.org) A Zhoushan City, Zhejiang Province resident has been detained incommunicado since early June 2022, after she was arrested for sending text messages with information about Falun Gong.

Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.

Ms. Zhao Peizhou used to teach Chinese at a local high school. She suffered many ailments since childhood. Although both of her parents were doctors, they couldn’t cure her. Shortly after she took up Falun Gong, she recovered and saved a lot of healthcare costs for her employer.

Since the onset of the persecution, Ms. Zhao has been detained multiple times in various facilities, including a brainwashing center, a psychiatric hospital, and a labor camp. She was sentenced to four years at the Zhejiang Province Women’s Prison in June 2016, following an arrest in July 2015.

While being incarcerated, she was subjected to brainwashing, drug administration, beating, forced labor, starvation, freezing, and electric shocks, among many other forms of physical torture. She was in a delirious state and suffered severe memory loss. She was also fired by her school and had to do odd jobs to make ends meet.
