Additional Persecution News from China – October 18, 2022 (12 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 7 cities or counties in 9 provinces, where at least 25 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Qingyun County, Shandong Province] Mr. Yang Xiqing Formally Arrested

Mr. Yang Xiqing was arrested by officers from the Qingyun County Domestic Security Division on July 21, 2022. He has now been formally arrested.

2. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Wang Meihong Abused in Prison

Ms. Wang Meihong is incarcerated in the Harbin Women’s Prison. Criminal prisoner Wang Fengchun shoved a rag in her mouth, then yanked it out. Two of Ms. Wang’s front teeth were pulled out.

3. [Jilin City, Jilin Province] Ms. Zhao Guokun Detained

Ms. Zhao Guokun was arrested on September 27, 2022. She has since been held in the Shulan Detention Center. Her father, Mr. Zhao Xudong, who is released on bail pending trial, hired an attorney for her. The attorney requested to meet her. But the Minzhu Police Station claimed attorneys had to first get approval from the Changyi District Police Department before they took any Falun Gong cases. Her brother, Mr. Zhao Guoxing, who is also a practitioner, left their hometown to avoid being persecuted. 

4. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Zhou Yanli and a Female Practitioner Arrested

Ms. Zhou Yanli of Hushitai area, Shenbei District, was arrested at home by officers from the Shenbei District Domestic Security Division after 9:00 p.m. on October 16, 2022. Several officers were still searching the place when her husband came home. She was taken to the Hushitai Police Station.

A female practitioner distributed desk calendars with Falun Gong messages printed on them in Hushitai and was arrested after 2:00 p.m. on October 16, 2022.

5. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Tong Shurong Under Extended Home Arrest

Ms. Tong Shurong, 78, talked to people about the persecution of Falun Gong in the Yingchengzi Railroad Station on October 17, 2021. A middle school student reported her. She was arrested and taken to the Yingchengzi Police Station. Officers made a police record report, and released her around 2:00 p.m.

Deputy director Hu Yanqing and officer Wang took her to the police station to redo the police record report in the early hours of November 26, 2021. They placed her under house arrest for six months.

In May 2022 she was notified at home that she was placed under home arrest for another six months by Hu Yanqing and two officers from the police station.

6. [Xian City, Shaanxi Province] Three Practitioners Arrested

Ms. Dong Guijin, 60, was arrested by officers from the Sanqiao Police Station around August 16, 2022. It was said that she was followed and watched by the police for six months. She was released.

Ms. Kou Juying, 73, was arrested at home on the afternoon of August 18, 2022, by more than 20 officers from the Sanqiao Police Station, the Xinjiamiao Police Station, and the Xian Domestic Security Division. They seized a desktop computer, a notebook computer, printers, paper currency with Falun Gong messages printed on them, keepsakes, and Falun Gong books. They planned to detain her. But the detention center did not admit her because of her high blood pressure. They placed her under release on bail pending trial and had her son take her home.

Ms. Li Xinfeng, 61, was visiting Ms. Kou and was arrested together with her. She was released on bail on the morning of August 20. Officers from the Xinjiamiao Police Station searched her home on August 29. Her cell phone was confiscated.

7. [Jinzhong City, Shanxi Province] Practitioners Harassed

Ms. Wang Bianxiang and Ms. Yang Meiqin of Xiaobai Township, Taigu District were again harassed and threatened by officers from the Xiaobai Police Station on July 26, 2022. The officers seized three audio players from Ms. Yang. Due to the harassment, Ms. Wang almost lost her life at 3:00 a.m. the following morning; Ms. Yang had a heart attack and was admitted to the hospital.

Ms. Han Bianai and Shuanli of Hucun Town, Wu Jitao and others of Hucunzhuang, Li Hailin, Li Qiaorong, Jia Niangen, and others of Xindai Village were harassed by officers from the Hucun Town Police Station around September 8, 2022.

Practitioners in Huchun were harassed at home again on October 12 by officers from the Hucun Town Police Station. The officers seized their audio players and Falun Gong books.

Practitioners in Shuixiu Village were repeatedly harassed.

8. [Luoding City, Guangdong Province] Ms. Shen Xiumei Repeatedly Harassed

Ms. Shen Xuemei was repeatedly harassed by Tan Boyong and others from the Luoding Domestic Security Division. Tan made harassing calls to her, threatened her, and forced her to tell them where she worked. Officers from the local police station also found her boss and used various excuses to harass her at work repeatedly. They harassed her aged mother at home and tried to get her phone number.

9. [Nanjing City, Jiangsu Province] Ms. Fu Yurong Arrested

Ms. Fu Yurong was arrested on September 26, 2022. Her whereabouts are unknown.

10. [Nan County, Hunan Province] Case Against Ms. Zhang Kehui Transferred to Yiyang City

Ms. Chen Lichun distributed Falun Gong flyers before May 20, 2022. Police identified her from the security camera system. Officers from the Jiudu Police Station followed her on May 20 and arrested her in the street. They took her to the police station and used her cell phone to send a lunch invitation to Ms. Zhang Kehui through WeChat. They then went to her home. They arrested Ms. Zhang when she arrived. They seized her key, went to her home, and ransacked the place even though no family member was present, which was required by law. They confiscated her Falun Gong books, paper currency worth more than 14,000 yuan with Falun Gong messages printed on them, and other cash worth more than 10,000 yuan. The Nan County Procuratorate held her case for about a month, then transferred it to the Ziyang District Procuratorate, Yiyang City.

11. [Chongqing] Ms. Liu Jinxiu Harassed

Ms. Liu Jinxiu was harassed at home by Changjiang Village community officer Chen Jie and an assistant officer. She refused to open her door. The officers threatened to ransack her place. They finally photographed her.

12. [Shanghai] Ms. You Xiuying Under 24-hour Surveillance

Ms. You Xiuying, nearly 80, has been under 24-hour surveillance.
