Taipei, Taiwan: Spectators Moved by Grand Parade in the Rain Supporting 400 Million Withdrawals from the CCP

(Minghui.org) Falun Dafa practitioners and supporters held a rally and parade in Taipei on October 20 to congratulate the 400 million Chinese people who quit the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and affiliated organizations. Over 1,000 practitioners and supporters marched in the bustling east district of Taipei City, drawing public attention.

Many people were surprised to see the march despite the steady rain that day. They expressed admiration for the practitioners’ dedication. 

Practitioners held a grand parade in Taipei on October 20 to support 400 million Chinese people who quit the CCP organizations. 

The parade started from the square in front of Taipei City Hall, passed by several busy roads where the city government, top department stores, and international companies are located. 

The parade was led by the Tian Guo Marching Band and the Celestial Maiden Team, followed by the first segment “Widespread of Falun Dafa”, the second segment “Injustice”, the third segment “Quitting the CCP and Affiliated Organizations”, and the fourth segment “Stop the Persecution.” The flag drum team, waist drum team, the Taiwan Association for Rescuing the Persecuted Falun Gong Practitioners, and the World Organization to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong participated in the march. Practitioners distributed fliers along the way, calling on kind-hearted people to help stop the persecution.

Ms. Shi and her children watched the parade and read the flyer. She said, “It’s touching. Taiwan needs Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. Recently, there has been the pandemic, war, and the food crisis in the world. We need something positive and uplifting.”

Ms. Shi added that most people still prefer democracy and don’t like dictatorship. Many people in China are quitting the party and speaking out, “This is a good thing. They dare to stand up in such a harsh environment. They are really courageous. I admire them very much.”

Another spectator, Cai, said after learning abut the 400 million withdrawals, “This is great. They are willing to listen to information other than the CCP’s media, which is good. The Chinese people are restricted by the CCP and China has become a closed society. Freedom and democracy are as natural as breathing in Taiwan.” 

Background: What Is Falun Dafa and Why Is the CCP Persecuting It?

Falun Dafa (also known as Falun Gong) was first introduced to the public by Mr. Li Hongzhi in Changchun, China, in 1992. The spiritual discipline is now practiced in over 100 countries and regions worldwide. Millions of people who have embraced the teachings, which are based on the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance, and have learned the five exercises, have experienced improved health and well-being.

Jiang Zemin, former head of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), perceived the spiritual discipline’s growing popularity as a threat to the CCP’s atheistic ideology and on July 20, 1999, he issued an order to eradicate the practice.

Under Jiang’s personal direction, the CCP established the 610 Office, an extralegal security organization with the power to override the police and judicial systems and whose sole function is to carry out the persecution of Falun Dafa.

Minghui.org has confirmed the deaths of thousands of practitioners as a result of the persecution over the past 23 years. The actual number is believed to be much higher. Countless practitioners have been imprisoned and tortured for their faith.

There is concrete evidence that the CCP sanctions the harvesting of organs from detained practitioners, who are murdered to supply China’s organ transplant industry.
