A Major Tribulation in My Cultivation

(Minghui.org) I have been through countless illness-karma tests since I started practicing Falun Dafa in 1995. Studying the Fa, doing the exercises, and looking within have helped me to smoothly overcome these challenges.

A recent tribulation was nothing like what I went through in the past. It tested my mind and body to the extreme due to its severity and extended duration.

I thought, “I am Master Li Hongzhi’s disciple, I deny the plans made by the old forces and eliminate any interference!” In addition to sending forth righteous thoughts constantly, I measured myself by the standards of the Fa and corrected my thoughts and actions. My belief told me that I would endure this test no matter what. I succeeded in the end, thanks to Master’s power and other practitioners help.

To show my gratitude for Master’s compassion and the greatness of Dafa, I want to share this experience with fellow practitioners.

The Beginning

One morning in June 2020, I went out with neighborhood practitioners to distribute Falun Dafa brochures. When I got back home for lunch, I noticed a red rash on my face. The bumps were the size of rice. I did not think much of it.

I went to visit my brother’s family the next day. They asked about my face, and said I should have the rash checked out.

My face swelled up on the third day, and the bumps became patches. My skin thickened and turned red. Two days later, the redness spread to my chest, stomach, and lower body. The course of the rash was redness, swelling, blistering, drainage, and itching. The itchiness was unbearable, especially on my legs and in my private area. The discomfort made me irritable, and kept me up all night.

Maintaining Strong Righteous Thoughts

I was unable to go out in public or join our local group Fa study. It was interference from the old forces trying to keep me from saving people and studying the Fa. I thought about how to eliminate it. Any area I scratched seeped yellow fluid. More seeped out as soon as I wiped it clean. When I could not endure it any longer, I begged Master for help and recited Master’s teaching:

“The Fa can break all attachments, the Fa can destroy all evil, the Fa can shatter all lies, and the Fa can strengthen righteous thoughts.” (“Drive Out Interference,” Essentials for Further Advancement II)

Local practitioners came to help me by sending forth righteous thought as one body to eliminate interference.

After some time, the swelling started to subside. The red patches on my skin turned darker. Next, the dried up scabs fell off, and a layer of dead skin flaked off every couple of days. While enduring the pain and itchiness, I washed and scrubbed my flaky skin. This process lasted for four months. During these months, family and friends came to visit me and tried to convince me to go to a hospital. Some said it was eczema, some said it was shingles, and so on. Their efforts ended up in vain. They left with an angry looks on their faces.

My granddaughter cried when she saw me, as did my sister-in-law. My niece and her husband tried to scare me by saying, “It is a blood illness. You need to go to a major hospital for a check up, or else your life will be in danger.” My other sister-in-law suggested to my son that he should sneak medication into my food. My son knew that I had not taken any medication since I began practicing Falun Dafa. Thus, he did not do what his aunt told him to do.

It was hard to remove myself from all these sentimentalities from family and friends. I believe they were being controlled by the old forces to keep me from cultivating. I knew I must follow Master’s teaching, and eliminate all interference.

Master said:

“‘I’m Li Hongzhi’s disciple, I don’t want other arrangements or acknowledge them’—then they won’t dare to do that. So it can all be resolved. When you can really do that, not just saying it but putting it into action, Master will definitely stand up for you.” (Teachings Given on Lantern Festival Day, 2003)

All of my fears were gone. I was calm when I thought about Master’s teaching.

Breaking Through the Interference

“Swift like lightning, soaring to cosmic heightsMighty like a thunderbolt, reaching beyond heavensSweeping across the cosmos, no place untouchedEliminating altogether all that’s decayed and deviant(“Righteous Thoughts,” Hong Yin IV)

I repeated Master’s poem over and over again. It must have been the old forces trying to stop me from studying the Fa and saving people. I vowed to follow Master’s plan for me to do the three things.

I put on a hat and a face mask. I also wrapped fabric on my legs and stomach to catch any drainage. Another practitioner and I went to the market. We helped over 20 people quit the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and its youth organizations. The day went well. My mind was at ease when I got home. My body did not itch that night.

I subsequently went to our group Fa study as I always did. With Master’s and other practitioners’ help, an amazing thing happened. My condition began to improve. The redness and swelling subsided, one area at a time. The irritation was going away. My skin was back to normal in the fourth month.

When I met acquaintances later, they were shocked. They asked how I recovered without medication or treatment. I told them that Master and Falun Dafa cured me.

My experience of overcoming this sickness tribulation showed my family and friends that Falun Dafa is able to save us. Furthermore, the dignity of Falun Dafa and Master’s power were witnessed by those around me.

I would like to thank Master for his compassion. And I want to thank the practitioners who helped me through this ordeal. In the future, I will be more diligent on the path of cultivation.
