(Minghui.org) A Pucheng County, Fujian Province resident was sentenced to five years and a 20,000 yuan fine for practicing Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.

Ms. Yang Ziju, 71, was followed by plainclothes officers while talking to people about Falun Gong on January 19, 2021. She was arrested the same day. The police ransacked her home and confiscated her Falun Gong books, photo of Falun Gong’s founder and other informational materials.

Ms. Yang was held at the Nanping City Detention Center. It’s confirmed that she was sentenced by the Yanping District Court on December 22, 2021.

In addition to Ms. Yang, two other practitioners in Pucheng County are also being detained for their faith.

Ms. Wu Wenying, 74, a relative of Ms. Yang, was arrested on October 3, 2021 while talking to people about Falun Gong at a community fair. It’s not clear where she is detained right now.

Mr. Xu Tingsong, 64, was arrested on October 21, 2021, while doing Falun Gong exercises at a local practitioner’s home. The police ransacked his home and confiscated two computers, a printer, Falun Gong books and 7,000 yuan in banknotes printed with information about Falun Gong (as a way to raise awareness about the persecution due to strict censorship in China). He is now held at the Pucheng County Detention Center.
