(Minghui.org) A Jinan City, Shandong Province resident in her 70s is being harassed and facing prosecution for speaking out about her faith in Falun Gong, a spiritual and meditation discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.

Ms. Hao Guangju was reported for distributing informational materials about Falun Gong in a residential area on April 27, 2020. The police followed her home and ransacked her residence.

Due to the pandemic, the local detention center refused to accept her and Ms. Hao was released on bail on the same day.

The police submitted her case to the Zhangqiu Procuratorate, which summoned Ms. Hao in October 2020.

Ms. Hao was arrested again and taken to the hospital to do physical examination in December 2020. After she was found to have high blood pressure, the police had to release her.

Seven months later, on July 16, Lian Xueshun of the Dongguan Police Station called Ms. Hao and told her to report to the police station on July 21 for another physical examination.

Ms. Hao went to the police station on July 20 and tried to deliver a letter to the police, urging them not to participate in the persecution. The security personnel blocked her from entering the police station. When she called officer Lian, he responded that he wouldn’t read her letter and nothing would change his mind. Upon returning home, Ms. Hao mailed her letter to the police and the Zhangqiu Procuratorate.

Ms. Hao didn’t report to the police station on July 21. When she called Lian on July 22, she told him that she had consulted a lawyer. Lian became infuriated immediately and shouted, “You have violated the law and committed a crime!”

Ms. Hao refuted that there has never been a legal basis for the persecution and that while the police accused her of “undermining law enforcement,” they failed to explain what law enforcement was undermined by her and how.

Lian appeared to be impatient and said, “I don’t want to listen to any of that. Don’t talk such things to me. It’s useless. I would say you are pretending to be sick [having high blood pressure].”
