(Minghui.org) Below is the update of cases against four Falun Gong practitioners in Shenzhen City, Guangdong Province for upholding their faith.
Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Mr. Sun Xiaohu and Mr. Ji Yaming
Mr. Sun Xiaohu and Mr. Ji Yaming are both factory workers in their 30s. For spreading information about Falun Gong on WeChat, a popular social media platform in China, they were arrested in 2018 and held in the Yantian District Detention Center for over a year.
The police once ordered Mr. Sun’s family members to persuade him to renounce Falun Gong. It’s not clear whether he complied.
In early 2019, Mr. Sun and Mr. Ji were sentenced to 2.5 and 3.5 years in the Shaoguan Prison, respectively.
Mr. Sun was released in June 2020 and Mr. Ji in early 2021.
Mr. Xie Wanmeng
Mr. Xie Wanmeng, a 37-year-old professional Go coach, was arrested on May 28, 2019. He was tried by the Yantian District Court on October 29, 2020 and sentenced to 3.5 years with a 5,000 yuan fine on April 1, 2021. He appealed the verdict, but the intermediate court ruled to uphold his original verdict. He is now held at the B06 cell at Yantian Detention Center. Guard He Yingke is in charge of his cell.
Mr. Xie’s landlord, Wang Wei, was fined (amount unknown) by the authorities for renting the apartment to him. Mr. Xie’s 10,000 yuan deposit has been forfeited and all of his personal belongings in the apartment were removed without his knowledge.
Ms. Nan Minmin
Ms. Nan Minmin, a 64-year-old retired account, was arrested on May 29, 2020. She was first held at the Luohu Detention Center and then transferred to the Shenzhen City No.3 Detention Center.
Following her court hearing on March 25, 2021, she was transferred to the Yantian Detention Center. She is now held at cell A19 and watched over by guard Qiu Hui.
Prior to her latest persecution, Ms. Nan had been sentenced twice to five years in 2001 and 2007, respectively, for practicing Falun Gong.
