90-year-old Father and Daughter Harassed for Their Faith

(Minghui.org) A 90-year-old man and his daughter in Nanchang City, Jiangxi Province were recently harassed for their faith in Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.

Wan Wenjun, a staff member of the Xingguang Community, called Ms. Fu Jinfeng at 10 a.m. on June 23, 2021, and asked what she was doing. Ms. Fu replied that the weather was good and she was helping her father do laundry.

“Do you still practice Falun Gong?” Wan asked.

“What do you think?”

“You can do it at home, but don’t go out.” Wan then hung up.

One hour later, the security of the neighborhood led two police officers to Ms. Fu’s home. She had just finished washing a pair of shoes for her father when she saw two police officers standing in the hallway (she didn’t lock the front door). One of the officers was wearing a black digital box in front of his left chest, perhaps a surveillance camera. The other officer said something to him and this officer touched that box––it’s not clear whether he turned it on or off.

Ms. Fu went to the balcony and hung up the shoes. When she came back to the hallway, the police ordered her to get out as they wanted to talk to her father, Mr. Fu Mingzhen, alone.

Ms. Fu grabbed a blanket and wanted to hang it in the front yard under the sun for disinfection, only to see two more people standing there. They were director Lan and his assistant Dong Wei from the Nanchang Petroleum Company, where her father retired from. She said this was the first time that the company had also sent people to harass them.

Ms. Fu said to Lan and Dong that many people around the world are practicing Falun Gong and it has helped countless people to regain their health.

Lan asked her, “Did you work at the Nanchang City Blood Center?”

Ms. Fu replied, “I was supposed to retire from there in 2017. But because of practicing Falun Gong, I was sentenced in 2015 and fired by the blood center in 2016. My son has helped me to apply for low-income social security.”

By then, Mr. Fu and the two police officers also came out. The officers introduced themselves as Wan and Xu, who had recently begun to work at the Jiaoqiao Town Police Station.

One of the officers said to Ms. Fu, “Ask your sister to come here to take care of your father. You can’t live here.”

Ms. Fu argued that her sister has her own family. But for her, she is now by herself, after her husband divorced her due to the persecution, and her son lives in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province, which is about 500 miles from Nanchang. “It’s my responsibility to take care of my father. Do I need to get approval from the police for that?”

The police asked her again whether she practices Falun Gong and why she visited a local store recently. She refused to reply. The officers then left.

Mr. Fu later told his daughter that the police asked about his criminal complaint in 2015 against Jiang Zemin, the former head of the communist regime who ordered the persecution. He told the police that he did file the complaint and he didn’t do anything wrong. The police didn’t say a word and then walked out to the front yard.
